The Weekend Beach Report

Unbelievable weather for August, barely reaching 80 on either Saturday or Sunday. From Saturday, a nearly empty beach
 But an innovative sand structure.
A poorly focused picture of a pretty nice Mako Shark tooth. But overall, fossil hunting was slow.
A great shot of a female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail on some Joe Pye Weed growing down behind our house.
The Joe Pye Weed was extremely attractive today.
One of the small ones, a Pearl Crescent, in the weeds on the way to the beach.
Skye preparing to drag me in.
A female Spicebush Swallowtail puddling in shell hash. It's not usually the females. There were lots of butterflies puddling, including large groups of Tigers. Unfortunately Skye spooked them before I got any group photos.
And one of the Great Blue Herons fishing in the surf.
