Natural Bridge

Today, we (me, Georgia, my brother Mark, and his wife Brigitte) went on a walk to Natural Bridge in Calaveras County. A nice 2 mile round trip walk down into a canyon where a stream goes under a hill. Some pics.

Beach Report 9/27/21

Another gorgeous day here in Slower Maryland, temperatures about 75, skies all but perfectly clear, no humidity, and no wind to speak of.
The tide was about low, and we managed about 18 shark's teeth, none amazing, and 4 crab claws, which may be a daily record.
This GBH was watching us carefully as we walked under the log around to the north side

Not all the Ospreys are gone. I saw one come in from out in the Bay, and four eagles came out of the trees to check it out. But it wasn't carrying any fish, so they ended up leaving it alone.

Election 2020: Are Things Calming Down?

A very slack day, as befits a slack weekend. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette worries All eyes turn to Pennsylvania after Ariz.’s ‘audit’ affirmed Biden’s presidential victory. No, what the Arizona audit did was confirm that there were enough votes of questionable origin to cover the spread between Trump and Biden several times over. A few nudges from fraud in the mail in voting alone could easily have account for Biden's victory. Andrea Widburg at Am Think thinks (no, not yet) It’s fake news that the Maricopa audit proves Biden won

Democrats are strutting because the final Cyber Ninjas audit in Arizona showed that “[t]he auditor’s final hand count—which quadruple-checked every single one of the 2.1 million ballots—matches Maricopa County’s official machine count.” Big whoop. For those complaining about irregularities in the 2020 election, the question was never about miscounting. Instead, it was about the claim that an inordinate number of the ballots in the Joe Biden pile didn’t come from real people. Instead, they were alleged to have been faked—and the audit confirms almost 60,000 wrongfully counted ballots that could easily switch the Arizona Electoral College vote from Biden to Trump. No wonder Cyber Ninjas says the Arizona result should not have been certified.

At the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Trump intensifies war with Georgia GOP leaders at Perry rally and from AllahPundit at Haut Hair, Trump sort of endorses Stacey Abrams. At least she's an enemy out in the open. Liz Cheney, "I like Republican presidents who win re-election", which would have carried more weight if she had actually worked for his re-election, instead of trying to knife him in the back.

I&I/TIPP Poll: Biden Voters Abandon Him In Droves, Paul Bedard at WaEx reports Pollster Zogby: Biden ‘is in trouble,’ a ‘D’ for the week. Well, there has been grade inflation. And NYT's caged conservative, Ross Douhat worries (via Haut Hair), Can Joe Biden recover?
Whereas what should worry Democrats most are scenarios that require a lot from this president: adaptability, finesse, a skillful use of the bully pulpit. Biden can definitely float back up; I’m less sure that he can claw his way back, as Bill Clinton did after his early-presidency stumbles.

Across da pond at Da Mail, Rudy Giuliani blasts Fox News after network banned him for three months over 2020 election claims

Citing a Politico story, Bannon said Giuliani is under 'double secret probation' at Fox News.

Bannon said: 'Fox did not allow Rudy Giuliani to appear on Fox and Friends on the morning of September 11 - now they tell you you've been on some secret probation over there that nobody knew about?'

Giuliani replied: 'It’s really strange that I’m on probation at a time in which just about everything I said is being corroborated.'

'And they actually are reporting all the things they claim I misled them about.'

Vickie Taft at PJ Media claims the FBI Narrative About the Jan. 6th Capitol 'Insurrection' Is IMPLODING, with at least two FBI informants in on the action.

It’s already known that the Proud Boys leader, Enrique Tarrio, had been an FBI informant. The Times report concentrates on yet another FBI informant in the right-leaning group who reportedly warned his handler in real-time that some bad stuff was going on at the Capitol.

Though several Proud Boys are charged with a conspiracy, this latest informant maintains that there was never any plan by the group to violently storm the Capitol and, indeed, there’s evidence to back that claim.

Indeed, the paper concludes the obvious: that “the new information is likely to complicate the government’s efforts to prove the high-profile conspiracy charges it has brought against several members of the Proud Boys.”

At Da Caller, Justice For J6 Rally Organizer Said The Group Was In Constant Contact With Law Enforcement Ahead Of The Event

“We communicated with them on a near-daily basis for two months and ahead of this, to make sure it all went smoothly, they were very responsive to everything,” Braynard said. “And for the most part, I think they did a phenomenal job in helping us coordinate and have a safe and successful event.”

“I know there were federal agents at the rally, they were surrounding us in all directions,” Braynard added. “They were expected to be there. I knew they were gonna be there. We coordinated with them [federal law enforcement officials], we told them everything we were doing.”
. . .
“None of our people were arrested,” Braynard told the DCNF. He added that he was never concerned about attendees showing up armed and that the accusation was “a political decision to suppress turnout.”

Beach Report 9/26/21

On our way down to the beach, Skye and I encountered a Viceroy butterfly on the same stair rail that I've seen one on several times before. Is it the same butterfly, or am I seeing successive generations in the same place?
We had lovely fall weather again today, temperatures in the low 70's, a bit windier than yesterday, and a few fluffy clouds.
The tide was pretty low, and we made it around past the big slump and tree.
Georgia found the "shamer" (ain't that a shame), most of the blade of a big White Shark tooth. I found 15 little teeth, but lost 3 when I dropped my jar by accident. Easy come, easy go.
We didn't see any Ospreys fishing today, may the last of this years hatch have gone, but this Eagle was patrolling the area they've been hanging out in lately.

Election 2020 In the Sunday Doldrums

Not a lot by recent standards. JTN is keeping up the news on the Arizona audit, which the MSM has already written off as vindicating victory for Biden, Arizona releases audit results, as state Senate President says statutes ' were broken'

The draft report concluded Democrat Joe Biden received more votes for president than incumbent Republican Trump but flagged as many as 44,000 votes as "critical."

Roughly half of the flagged votes fell into the category of "Mail-in Votes without Ballots Received.”

How does that even work? Also at JTN, John Solomon writes Arizona audit flags thousands of suspect ballots, kicking issue to state's attorney general

The more than 50,000 ballots flagged by auditors for more investigation involved concerns ranging from people voting from addresses from which they had already moved to residents voting twice. The total in question was nearly five times the 10,400 vote margin that separated the two presidential candidates, giving Donald Trump's troops fresh reason to call for more scrutiny.

The job of resolving the question now falls to Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, a Republican who has ambitions of winning a U.S. Senate seat in 2022.

Brnovich immediately seized the opportunity, announcing his office's election integrity unit would review the questionable ballots to determine if further action was warranted.

"I will take all necessary actions that are supported by the evidence and where I have legal authority," Brnovich tweeted a short while before the final official audit results were to be released. "Arizonans deserve to have their votes accurately counted and protected."

DJT, Donald J. Trump On Arizona Audit Report, Media

The Fake News is lying about the Arizona audit report! The leaked report conclusively shows there were enough fraudulent votes, mystery votes, and fake votes to change the outcome of the election 4 or 5 times over.

The number includes 23,344 mail-in ballots, despite the person no longer living at that address. Phantom voters!

The official canvass does not even match who voted, off by 11,592—more than the entire Presidential Election margin. Voters who voted in multiple counties totaled 10,342, and 2,382 ballots came from people who no longer lived in Maricopa County.

There were also 2,592 “more duplicate ballots than original ballots.” Just those fraudulent ballots alone total 50,252 and is fraud many more times than the so-called margin of “victory,” which was only 10,457.

In addition, election data appears to have been intentionally deleted, and ballot images were “corrupt or missing.” This is not even the whole state of Arizona, but only Maricopa County. It would only get worse!

At Mediate,  Arizona Governor Says ‘There Will Be No Decertification’ of Election Results After Trump Demands It in Statement Raging Over Audit

“There will be no decertification of the 2020 election — the audit does not call for one, and even if it had, there is no lawful way to decertify. As we have every step of the way, Arizona will follow the law,” Ducey continued.

He concluded his thread by talking about “meaningful election reform” before 2022.

Tongue planted firmly in cheek, Daniel Greenfield at Front Page says Dems Complain Putin Stole Their Election Theft Ideas

“The Russian government’s use of laws on ‘extremist organizations,’ ‘foreign agents,’ and ‘undesirable organizations’ severely restricted political pluralism and prevented the Russian people from exercising their civil and political rights,” State Department spokesman Ned Price sniffed.

That playbook ought to sound familiar because it’s the one Democrats used in 2016 and 2020.

Nick Arama at Red State, Trump Makes It Clear He's Running, Lights up Georgia Rally on Biden, Durham, and the Audit while Haut Hair cites a TIPP Poll: Biden voters abandon him in droves.

On the matter of Jan 6, confirming what has been obvious for some time, the NYT has finally admitted to at least one FBI snitch in the mix. Jordan Williams on Da Hill, FBI had informant in crowd during Capitol riot: report

The FBI had an informant in the crowd during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, The New York Times reported Saturday, citing confidential records it obtained.

The informant’s name was not revealed in the records, though he was affiliated with a Midwest chapter of the far-right group the Proud Boys, according to the newspaper.

Based on an account of the informant’s activities detailed in the records, the informant described meeting up with men from other Proud Boys chapters at 10 a.m. at the Washington Monument and eventually entering the Capitol.

The informant entered after debating whether to do so, the Times reported. He left through a window after police told him that someone had been shot — likely Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt, the newspaper noted.

The informant has since denied that the Proud Boys intended to use violence on Jan. 6 but rather were consumed by a herd mentality. He has also denied that the group planned to attack the Capitol in interviews, the Times reported.

'Bonchie' at Red State, The FBI Admits to Having Informants at January 6th Protest

But, I think it’s a distraction to focus on this one informant. Understand, as someone who has watched many prior leaks from the government get published by The New York Times and The Washington Post, this kind of thing only gets printed if it’s an attempt to get out in front of a much bigger revelation. Remember that recent leak to The Washington Post involving John Durham indicting Michael Sussman? The Post’s write-up made it sound like Sussman was innocent. Then the actual indictment dropped and it was far, far worse.

That’s the pattern going well back into the Trump years, and that’s likely what’s happening here. The FBI needs to normalize for the public the idea that they had people participating in what happened on January 6th. That way, when we learn who the men in black are that opened the doors, or something else related to the FBI’s involvement, it seems like less of a big deal.

Julie Kelly at Am Great is on it, Times Reveals FBI Role in January 6, "One thing is certain; the Times' damage-control article is just the tip of the FBI iceberg. And more proof January 6 was an inside job." Ed Driscoll at Insty's, UNEXPECTEDLY: Times Reveals FBI Role on January 6th. . .  Finally, as Roger Simon writes: It’s Time to Break Up the FBI. “Like Carthage, the FBI delenda est. The FBI must be destroyed.” Althouse reads the NYT so you don't have to, "But statements from the informant appear to counter the government’s assertion that the Proud Boys organized for an offensive assault on the Capitol intended to stop the peaceful transition from Mr. Trump to Mr. Biden."

"On the eve of the attack, the records show, the informant said that the group had no plans to engage in violence the next day except to defend itself from potential assaults from leftist activists.... Then, during an interview in April, the informant again told his handlers that Proud Boys leaders gave explicit orders to maintain a defensive posture on Jan. 6. At another point in the interview, he said that he never heard any discussion that day about stopping the Electoral College process.... According to the records, the informant first began to tell the F.B.I. what he knew about Jan. 6 in late December after a pro-Trump rally in Washington that month turned violent.... [T]he records contain no indication that the informant was aware of a possible plot by Proud Boys leaders to purposefully instigate those normal Trump supporters — or what members of the group refer to as 'normies'— on Jan. 6."
. . .
ADDED: My hypothesis has been that if there had been a plan, the FBI would have known about it and it would have been defended against. If the government has evidence of a plan now, my question is why didn't they know in advance and defend the Capitol properly? The simplest answer is that there was no plan.

At JTN,  FBI charges former FreedomWorks organizer over Jan. 6 riot, says in Capitol less than 4 minutes "FBI also conducted surveillance on Brandon Prenzlin in June at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport as part of its case. . . . Prenzlin faces four federal misdemeanor charges including entering the Capitol without permission and disorderly conduct." I want those charges pressed against leftist when they do it too.

Rebecca Down at Town Hall reports (I should just call them Twon Hall instead of having to always correct myself), as expected, Key Figures Subpoenaed by January 6 Select Committee, Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Former White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Daniel Scavino, Former Defense Department official Kashyap Patel and Former Trump advisor Stephen Bannon. Remember, under the precedent established by Hillary Clinton, "I don't remember" is always a satisfactory answer, especially when you want to say "fuck you and the horse you rode in on." PM claims President Biden poised to cooperate with Congress over January 6th inquiry into Trump, ""The president has already concluded that it would not be appropriate to assert executive privilege," explained White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki." Biden might live to regret that, surely some of his staff will.

Beach Report 9/25/21

Another pretty nice fall day, with morning temperatures in the low 50s, but reaching 70 by the time we got ready for the walk. There's not very much wind, and the humidity is low. Fall is one of our two nice seasons

Modelling COVID

Bella Adid
A couple of amusing articles from the world of women who wear clothes for a living. Hey, don't knock it 'til you try it. First, from Page 6, Bella Hadid reveals vaccination status after skipping Met Gala 2021

She’s vaxxed.

Bella Hadid proved she got the COVID-19 vaccine after speculation mounted that she missed the 2021 Met Gala on Monday because of the event’s safety protocols.

“for anyone concerned , ” the supermodel, 24, captioned a photo of a nurse injecting her with a vaccine on her Instagram Story on Wednesday.
Gigi Adid

Her sister, Gigi Hadid, was present at the 2021 Met Gala wearing Prada. The pair usually attend the event together.

On Monday, all celebrities attending fashion’s biggest night were required to follow the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s visitor guidelines, which are in accordance with New York City’s
Maybe the vaccination was never the issue. Maybe she was having a spat with her sister. Maybe she thought the Met Gala would be full of pretentious idiots. Nah.

The second story of the interaction of modelling and WuFlu comes from Da Wire, regarding Gisele Bündchen, part of America's favorite breeding project, and a person with "fuck you money" from modelling, and husband Tom Brady, the GOAT, Gisele Bündchen Defends Fellow Supermodel Who Spoke Out Against Vaccine Mandates
Gisele Bündchen
Gisele Bündchen came to the defense of fellow supermodel Doutzen Kroes this weekend after Kroes spoke out against COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

“I know Doutzen and she is a kind and loving person. I can’t believe the hate being directed at her because she expressed her feelings,” Bündchen said via Instagram. “It saddens me to see all the judgment and the lack of empathy in so many peoples hearts. Hate is not the answer.”

“I invite you to silence your mind and go deep within to find love in your heart so we can all unite in peace and create harmony in our lives and in our world,” she added. “We need it more than ever.”

Doutzen Kroes

Over the weekend, Kroes posted to social media that she’s against restrictions for the unvaccinated and said she will not be getting the vaccine herself.

“The past few months have been very peaceful without social media,” the model started her post. “A part of me wanted to escape into my family bubble and leave everything up to faith. That part of me believes in the power of consciousness, that whatever you give energy to will grow. So I tried to ignore the negative and focus on the positive. But at this point, I can no longer turn a blind eye to the injustice that is happening right in front of us.”
“Other people have given me hope and strength with their courage to stand up for our rights,” she continued. “They touched my heart and inspired me to do the same. So although my hands are shaking while writing this, I feel it is time to choose courage over comfort and speak my truth.”

“I will not be forced to take the shot,” asserted Kroes. “I will not be forced to prove my health to participate in society. I will not accept exclusion of people based on their medical status.”

“Freedom of speech is a right worth fighting for but we can only solve this united in peace and love!” the model added. “Pass on the torch of hope and love and speak your truth.”

Now, models are all, almost by definition, young and thin, and thereby in groups at minimal risk of WuFlu, so vaccination may not be high on their list of priorities. But good for Gisele, for sticking up for a friend against the forces of social media. Get the vaccine, or not. It's your life no mine.

Election 2020: Maricopa Audit Report Is In

Sundance at CTH, Arizona Senate Hearing on Results From Maricopa County Audit – 4:00pm EST Livestream Links. And the lefties and MSM (but I redund) want you to look the other way while they try to convince you the everything was hunky and dory with the Maricopa election. As I predicted yesterday, the results are that ballots exist to cover the election, but their provenance leaves much to be desired. WaPoo, Arizona ballot review commissioned by Republicans reaffirms Biden’s victory and Report that found no evidence of fraud raises stakes for other GOP-backed ballot reviews. NYT, cited at Haut Hair, "Stop the steal" movement races forward, ignoring Arizona humiliation. Fox, cited at MSN, Maricopa County GOP audit confirms Biden 2020 victory in Arizona. Even 'Bonchie' at Red State, Arizona Election Audit Delivers Surprise Result, Per Reports

But Matt Margolis at PJ Media says Ignore the MSM: Here’s What the 2020 Maricopa County Election Audit Actually Says

“What has been found is both encouraging and alarming,” the report summary reads. “On the positive side there were no substantial differences between the hand count of the ballots provided and the official canvass results for the County.”

The summary continues:
  • However, while it is encouraging for voters, it does not allay all of the concerns:
  • None of the various systems related to elections had numbers that would balance and agree with each other. In some cases, these differences were significant.
  • There appears to be many ballots cast from individuals who had moved prior to the election.
  • Files were missing from the Election Management System (EMS) Server.
  • Ballot images on the EMS were corrupt or missing.
  • Logs appeared to be intentionally rolled over, and all the data in the database related to the 2020 General Election had been fully cleared.
  • On the ballot side, batches were not always clearly delineated, duplicated ballots were missing the required serial numbers, originals were duplicated more than once, and the Auditors were never provided Chain‐of‐ Custody documentation for the ballots for the time‐period prior to the ballot’s movement into the Auditors’ care. This all increased the complexity and difficulty in properly auditing the results; and added ambiguity into the final conclusions.
The audit team faults Maricopa County officials for not cooperating with the audit, which would have resolved many of these obstacles. “By the County withholding subpoena items, their unwillingness to answer questions as is normal between auditor and auditee, and in some cases actively interfering with audit research, the County prevented a complete audit,” the summary explains. “This did not stop the primary goal of offering recommendations for legislative reform to the Arizona Senate, but it did leave many questions open as to the way and manner that the 2020 General Election was conducted. As a result, while many areas of concern were specifically identified, our full audit results validating the 2020 General Election are necessarily inconclusive.”

While the media is claiming that the audit report confirms Biden’s victory, it does not. “There are sufficient discrepancies among the different systems that, in conjunction with some of our findings, suggest that the delta between the Presidential candidates is very close to the potential margin‐of‐error for the election,” the audit summary explains.

Here is a table showing the discrepancies and other issues found by the audit team and the number of ballots impacted. However, the audit team notes that no single finding would necessarily favor a single candidate. “In many cases there could be legitimate and legal votes within the Ballots Impact amount.” . . .

Rule 5 Saturday - Amy Shi

This week's Rule 5 post features Amy Shi
Born in southern China, Amy was secretly raised by her grandmother in a small village far away from the city where her parents lived. Five years later, Amy returned to her family fold to greet her baby brother, but the impact of her earliest years close to nature left a deep impression on her. Amy grew up liberated in spirit, inheriting the fearlessness of her grandmother from those early years. She studied intensely, earning top grades, and aspired to be a scientist. She earned her BA in marketing and computer science, and eventually a MBA.
Although Amy acted in school plays and was scouted at her teen age, she didn't think of pursuing acting till she was strongly encouraged by a mentor while living in Chicago.
