A Hard Day's Russiagate

Government watchdog Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation released new information Wednesday showing a senior State Department official worked with House Majority Leader (Minority Whip at the time) Steny Hoyer in 2016 on Russia documents provided by British spy Christopher Steele.

"Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation today released 18 pages of documents revealing former Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and Special Coordinator for Libya Jonathan Winer coordinating with then-House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer’s (D-MD) national security advisor, Daniel Silverberg to work on Russia dossier materials provided by Christopher Steele," Judicial Watch released.

This might be an appropriate time for a lecture from Professor Hanson on The FBI Tragedy: Elites above the Law
Just imagine: If an agent Peter Strozk interviewed you and overstepped his purview, would you, the aggrieved, then appeal to his boss, Andrew McCabe? And if Andrew McCabe ignored your complaint, would you, the wronged, then seek higher justice from a James Comey, who in turn might rely on a legal opinion from a Lisa Page or a brief from a James Baker? And failing that, might a Robert Mueller as an outside auditor rectify prior FBI misconduct?

Eric Felton at RCP, in It Started With a Lie: Bruce Ohr's Linchpin Role in Russiagate documents how Bruce Ohr failed to disclose his wife's involvement with the dossier to the DOJ, while feeding it to the FBI:
With one phone call, Ohr arranged to take an assortment of unverified accusations — some of them lurid, all of them partisan-financed — directly to the deputy director of the FBI. He had that remarkable access because he and Andrew McCabe had a preexisting relationship: Ohr told Congress that McCabe was someone “I had worked with in the past.” Ohr was promptly invited to bureau headquarters where he met not only with McCabe but also Lisa Page, with whom he also had well-established ties. Ohr had been, according to Page, her “first boss at the Justice Department.” She had worked for him for over five years.
The article is subjected to discussion at Althouse in The big "Russiagate" question: Why... did Bruce Ohr admit to the FBI that his wife worked for opposition researchers Fusion GPS while failing to disclose it to the DoJ?"

Now the author of the most infamous opposition research file in American political history is the target of a federal investigation into FBI misconduct in 2016. A full accounting of his role will prove that the Clinton campaign, not the Trump campaign, colluded with the Russians through Steele to interfere in the election. Steele also could be in legal trouble for lobbying the U.S. government on behalf of a foreign entity (Deripaska) without disclosing his relationship. Other charges could involve perjury and presenting false evidence to law enforcement.

And the media will once again be guilty of its own kind of perjury: Misleading the American public about a key perpetrator of the collusion hoax, all in the service of their crusade to get Donald Trump.

A very interesting development in the Michael Flynn case. Just as sentencing is about to occur, Gen. Flynn fired his defense lawyers and took a new one, Da Hill, Michael Flynn hires Sidney Powell as new counsel
Former national security advisor Mike Flynn has hired attorney Sidney Powell as his new counsel, Hill.TV has learned.

"I'm honored to be representing General Flynn, who I've long considered an American hero. The General and his family want to thank everyone across the country for their cards and contributions to his legal defense fund. He is going to continue to cooperate with the government, pursuant to his plea agreement," Powell told Hill.TV in a phone call.

Powell is author of the new book "Licensed to Lie, Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice." The book's description reads, "Licensed to Lie reveals the strong-arm, illegal, and unethical tactics used by headline-grabbing federal prosecutors in their narcissistic pursuit of power to the highest halls of our government" and focuses on the conduct of the Justice Department during the Enron investigation in the mid-2000s.

Powell is a frequent presence on the Fox News and prominent critic of Mueller's investigation.

AllahPundit at Hot Air, Mike Flynn Names Mueller Critic Sidney Powell As New Attorney. Will He Withdraw His Guilty Plea? I've featured a couple of interviews with Powell in these posts, and she is indeed, a white hot critic of Mueller and Weissman's tactics, and has had some success in combating Weissman in court. If there is a reasonable chance that she could get the guilty plea withdrawn and get Gen. Flynn out of his conviction, I would welcome it.

CR, Levin rips House Dems for bringing in Watergate criminal John Dean to Trump hearing: ‘This whole thing is a fraud’

Jonathon Moseley at AmThink, John Dean Blows Hole in Democrats' Impeachment Push
John Dean described at 6:11 PM how before election day on November 8, 2016, Dean had a pit twisting in his stomach when he saw election polls showing that then-candidate Donald Trump might win the Presidency.

So John Dean admitted to opposing Donald Trump before Trump was even elected.  And Dean described his level of disgust as doubling him over with pain in his stomach at the thought of a President Donald Trump.

So Dean let the cat out of the bag.  This has nothing to do with anything that Trump did after becoming President.  Dean was already desperate to stop Trump from becoming President.  This has nothing to do with the law, impeachment, obstruction of justice or anything else that Trump did.  It is all about politics.  Dean wanted Hillary Clinton to win -- by his own admission.  John Dean is just one of the many spoiled children of the Left who didn't get his way.

It makes sense, then, that Nadler and the House Democrats would invite Dean to “testify.” He lied to federal investigators 19 times, he lost his law license for “unethical, unprofessional and unwarranted conduct.” He’s a felon. It is not widely known, but before Dean joined the Nixon White House staff, he was fired from his Washington D.C. law firm after only six months for “secretly working in a television station license application for a competitor of one of his firm’s clients.”

Da Caller, House Votes To Hold Barr, McGahn In Contempt
Both President Donald Trump’s attorney general and former White House counsel defied subpoenas from the House Judiciary Committee, and congressional Democrats followed through on threats to hold them in contempt. The lower chamber voted in favor of H. Res. 430 by a margin of 229-191 in what was a party line vote. (RELATED: AG Bill Barr Is Not Worried About His Reputation: ‘Everyone Dies’)
Trump administration officials have come under fire for their handling of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report, which concluded that there was no evidence that the president’s campaign colluded with the Russian government. Mueller declined to weigh in on the possibility that Trump obstructed justice over the course of his investigation.
Citing Barr for contempt was foreordained. They've ached to do it since Holder was held in contempt. All they lacked was an excuse.
