Smithville In the News

Sea Level Rise in Smithville
Sea levels along the Eastern Shore are rising twice as rapidly as the global average. A new documentary highlights Smithville, a small community founded by freed slaves whose historic church and cemetery are threatened by the encroaching marsh.
. . .
Rona Kobell of Maryland Sea Grant, describes the causes and consequences of rising waters, and the struggle to take action. And filmmakers Wyman Jones Jr. and Jalysa Mayo share their perspectives on environmental justice.

Yep, sea level is rising, and it has been at the same rate since the US started monitoring it. The rate of sea level rise is not increasing, at least not yet.
