Five Years Ago Yesterday...

Al Gore (ManBearPig) predicted that the arctic ice cap would disappear in 5 years.

As you can see below, the Arctic ice cap is still going strong, and increasing towards it's annual summer maximum sometime in March.

Perhaps coincidentally, or perhaps not, solar scientists at the American Geophysical Meeting in San Francisco said that the magnetic activity of the sun, and the the sunspot cycle, on the other hand, is declining to lows not seen in 100 years:


Also possibly coincidentally, or perhaps not, Cairo, Egypt had it's first snow in 112 years:
