Election 2020 Never Rests

But it's at least a slow day. Judicial Watch reports Ashli Babbitts death was a homicide in NEW: Ashli Babbitt Shooting Emails Released! But we knew that. Any time a person kills another person it's a homicide, the question is whether or not it was justified, and just what are the rules that decide. Also, interestingly, the DC coroners office attempted to have her body cremated on Jan. 8. They were certainly in a hurry to dispose of the evidence. Also,

Additionally, Babbitt’s fingerprints were emailed to a person supposedly working for the DC government, which resulted in Microsoft “undeliverable” messages written in Chinese characters being returned.

Weird, huh? Yahoo! cites Nancy Pelosi calling Officers who died after defending Capitol on Jan. 6 'martyrs of democracy' A big sleight of hand maneuver there. One officer (Brian Sicknick) died Jan. 7 from a stroke that could not be linked to the riot. Since then, four more officers who were at the Capitol that day committed suicide. It's a remarkable run of bad luck, worthy of the Clintons, but as far as I know, none of those suicides has been linked to Jan. 6 by testimony or suicide note. Perhaps they're going to drag the families to the star chamber to force them to testify to that effect, though.

Komonews (Seattle) reports Seattle police Chief Diaz fires two officers who were in DC during Jan. 6 riot. Mind you, they did not enter the Capitol building, but
The two officers were found to have crossed the outdoor barriers established by the Capitol Police and were directly next to the Capitol Building. Clear evidence places them directly next to the Capitol Building.

Maybe, having been in Seattle, they didn't take barriers as seriously as others might. Nick Arama at Red State thinks Ben Shapiro Just Lights up Malcolm Nance When He Pushes False Jan. 6 Narrative

Fox reports Texas Dems who fled state sue Gov. Abbott for trying to bring them back: 'Discomfort and embarrassment', Wasn't that your choice when you left the state instead of doing your job?
The 22 plaintiffs have been "deprived of liberty for substantial periods of time, suffered much anxiety and distress over separation from their families, and much discomfort and embarrassment," the complaint filed late Friday alleges.

Abbott, House Speaker Dade Phelan and State Rep. James White are all named as defendants in the case.

The lawsuit alleges that the three Republicans have "by public statements and otherwise, to attempt to deny, coerce, threaten, intimidate, and prevent" the Democrats and constituents from voting in elections, speaking publicly about their constitutional rights, and their right to not being arrested without probable cause.

More from Karen Townsend at Hot Hair, Not The Onion: Runaway Texas lawmakers file frivolous lawsuit against Abbott, 2 other GOP leaders

They truly are the gang who can’t shoot straight. Two of the Democrats flew from D.C. to Portugal for summer vacations last week. The lawyer for the Democrats, Craig Anthony Washington, is also reportedly practicing law under a probationally suspended license. So, there’s that. They provide no evidence for any of their alleged grievances.
. . .
My favorite of the claims is that the Democrats say they have been “deprived of liberty for substantial periods of time.” Again, they left Austin on private planes, stay in nice hotels paid for by other people, their meals are paid for and care packages have been shipped up to them from Dallas Democrats. They haven’t even given up the per diems they receive during the general session and special sessions. C’mon, man. Their liberty is intact. Complaining now that their reputations have been damaged is laughable. They chose to do all of this.

Best of all, the Democrats know this is a frivolous action and not worth the paper it’s written on – they are claiming $5 in actual damages and $10 in punitive damages. Sure sounds like something The Onion would publish, right? We’ll see if they show up in Austin today for the start of the special session. The only thing they accomplished in D.C. was a meeting with Kamala, but not Joe Biden, and they postponed the inevitable passage of election integrity reform legislation. Good work, Democrats.

Mark Ellis at PJ Media asks Are Michael Wolff's Troubling Revelations About Fox News and the RNC True?. Did Fox corporate turn away from Trump to help Biden? Almost certainly.

For close watchers of the political scene, the potential revelations here may seem like the observations of Captain Obvious. But if it is true that both Fox News and the RNC heatedly or cynically abandoned Mr. Trump when he needed them most, the truth of these abandonments must be communicated writ large to millions of voters who are still wondering, in the wake of 2020, what the hell happened.

From Paul Bedard at WaEx, Sean Spicer: Trump’s running. Talk about Capt. Obvious. But 2024 is still a good ways away.  A lot can happen.

And on the lighter side, Variety informs us that Cobie Smulders to Play Ann Coulter in ‘Impeachment: American Crime Story’ After Betty Gilpin Exits. Yeah, I had to look her up. She played the chick in Stumptown, which we enjoyed, which probably also explains why it got canceled.

Cobie Smulders will now play Ann Coulter in “Impeachment: American Crime Story” after Betty Gilpin, who was originally set in the role, exited the cast due to scheduling complications during the pandemic.

Smulders is the newest addition to the cast of this season. This news comes just after FX released the official trailer on Wednesday. Smulders is known for playing Robin in the popular CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” and was most recently seen as Dex Parios in “Stumptown,” which was canceled by ABC in Sept. 2020.
Betty Gilpin

Gilpin shared her regrets about having to leave the role of Coulter on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in June. She called the situation “another COVID disappointment” before performing a comedic impression of the conservative media pundit reciting the children’s rhyme “Milk Milk Lemonade.” Gilpin said the impression took “a year [of] listening to Ann Coulter audiobooks” to perfect.

While I'm sure they're making her out to be a moral monster, at least they're choosing cute women to portray her.
