Election 2020 is Vacationing in Portugal

On the Jan. 6 front, from the Wombat's In The Mailbox: 08.04.21, Julie Kelly at Am Great tells us D’Souzas Donate $100,000 to January 6 Family Fund "The Patriot Freedom Project was created to collect donations and provide monetary assistance to families in need." He would know about unfair prosecutions. I wonder if the feds will go after him for this. Also from the Wombat, The Geller Report, 1/6 Was A Setup, citing a Joy Pullman article I posted a few days ago. A couple of articles on older incidents at the Capitol, and how they compare to Jan 6. At HE, Adam Ellwinger writes of THE OCCUPATION: PUBLIC PROTEST AND THE USE OF SPACE. How American elites co-opt popular demonstrations of discontent.

Consider when Scott Walker, then Governor of Wisconsin, brokered an agreement with state representatives to reign in public-sector unions in 2011. The day after Valentine’s Day, thousands protested outside the State Capitol building and were ultimately allowed to occupy it. Rather than letting security forces loose to clear that hallowed space, the protestors were accommodated for days. By February 20th, they had claimed the interior of the Capitol, and it looked like they intended to stay awhile: local businesses were providing free food to stock food stations inside, and medical professionals were colluding with protestors to accommodate and enable their continued absence from work. As with Occupy Wall Street, this occupation was tolerated and praised by legacy media outlets as another example of “democracy in action.”

In 2018, during the confirmation process of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, protestors were allowed to enter the Capitol and disrupt the opening statements. Some were arrested but received only slaps on the wrist and fines of fifty dollars or less. One would think that given the disruption of the hearings on the first day, the Capitol police might have beefed up security on the second day to safeguard the “citadel of our democracy.” But no—not only were demonstrators again allowed into the Capitol, their disruptions intensified, threatening to derail the entire confirmation process. Again, these efforts were celebrated by the press.

and at Am Think, in Frank Greco's  The DC Insurrection of 1932, he reminds us of the time Gen. McArthur, with aide Dwight (Ike) Eisenhower, brought tanks and drove protestors out of DC across the Anacostia River. Also at Am Think, Jeff Folks thinks about Homeland Insecurity for Conservatives.

At WaEx, Judge  orders Arizona Senate to produce Maricopa audit records. Really, so now we're supposed to follow judges, even the little ones? Kemp was appointed to the court by Gov. Janet Napolitano (D) in March 2005.

An Arizona judge ordered the state’s Republican-led Senate to produce records related to its audit of the 2020 election in Maricopa County, delivering a big win for critics of the controversial review.

The documents, sought by left-leaning watchdog group American Oversight, are subject to Arizona’s public records statute and must be provided to the organization “immediately,” Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Michael Kemp ruled Monday.

ABC, DOJ officials rejected colleague's request to intervene in Georgia's election certification: Emails "The DOJ officials rejected the request from another department official." Officials disagree? What are they trying to hide?

Also from the WombatThe Geller Report reports Elections Expert Releases Full Voter Fraud Report For 2020 – 8.1 Million Excess Votes. As I understand it, this is a largely statistical study showing weird happenings all over the country. It was a weird election because of WuFlu, and I believe that was used to conceal massive cheating, but not that much.

At WaEx, Paul Bedard says Election cheating surges to top US issue, most want photo ID based on Rassy reports on Election Integrity: 74% Of Voters Support Photo ID Requirement, but according to Lincoln Brown at PJ Media, 22 Pearl-Clutching State Attorneys General Want to Cede Power to the Feds. Well, we can't trust them, that's for sure.

Melodrama aside, the letter would be more convincing if the signatories were actually concerned about free and fair elections that reflected the will of the voters, and not just the left-leaning ones. They literally accuse Trump of trying to steal an election, but are they concerned with keeping members of their own party from doing the same?

Atop Da Hill, Jonathon Turley finds Democrats' election bills ignore the Founders' principles

While the president decries an “unprecedented attack on democracy,” the federalization of elections being pursued by Democrats actually would contravene what the Framers considered a core protection of democracy. By ignoring those countervailing principles, the Democrats are creating a dangerous blind spot in these proposed laws. The resulting litigation could leave core election rules in doubt heading into the next round of elections.

Da Texas Trib finds  Two House Democrats who broke quorum missing from Washington, D.C., reportedly vacationing in Portugal. Silvio Canto at Am Think thinks Portugal is so nice this time of the year.  "Last, but not least, did the ladies tell the immigration authorities in Portugal that they were hanging around with a group of people infected with COVID?" Twitchy, D’OH! Texas Dems supposedly in DC say nobody can prove they’re actually overseas on vacation (then it gets awkward)

Fred  Lucas at Da Signal signals that Journalism Groups Won’t Condemn NSA ‘Unmasking’ of Tucker Carlson
Last week, however, CNN and The Washington Post declined to comment on the Carlson-NSA matter when asked by The Daily Signal.

The two news organizations had complained about reports that the Justice Department, during the Trump administration, tried to obtain records of their communications as part of leak investigations.

They only care if Democrat-favoring reporters are spied on.
