A light load today, as befits Sundays in general, and with the Afghanistan clusterfuck in particular getting most of the attention.
Regarding Jan. 6, the FBI finally has it's "big name" defendant. DNYUZ, Infowars Host Owen Shroyer Has Been Charged In The Jan. 6 Riots. PM. Infowars host Owen Shroyer charged over Jan 6 riot after standing on Capitol steps Who?
On Friday, it was revealed that Owen Shroyer, an Infowars host, has been charged in connection to being on the grounds of the Capitol building on Jan. 6 and entering a "restricted area."
According to court documents obtained by Buzzfeed News senior reporter Zoe Tillman, Shroyer appears to have been charged on Thursday for "Knowingly Entering or Remaining in any Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority" and "Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct on Capitol Grounds."
Shroyer was reportedly under a Community Service Deferred Prosecution Agreement in connection to a Dec. 9, 2019, incident based on his disruption of a House Judiciary Committee meeting in which he was observing a Judicial Commission meeting and stood and shouted while the Chairman was talking.
Under the aforementioned DPA, Shroyer agrees not to disrupt Congress proceedings, and to not demonstrate on Capitol grounds.
Shroyer arrived in Washington, DC, ahead of the Jan. 6 planned Trump speech, issuing his own speech in a Freedom Plaza event the day prior on Jan. 5.
"Americans are ready to fight. We're not exactly sure what that's going to look like perhaps in a couple of weeks if we can’t stop this certification of the fraudulent election ... we are the new revolution! We are going to restore and we are going to save the republic!" Shroyer said, according to court documents.
According to the court documents, Shroyer is seen marching to the Capitol from the Ellipse, where a speech from former President Donald Trump was taking place, shortly before the Capitol building was breached. The documents allege that Shroyer entered restricted grounds, standing near the inauguration stage as well as on the steps of the building's west face.
Goodness, he stood on the Capitol steps?
They were protesters, though, not killers! They behaved like protesters, going to the place where the thing they were protesting was happening. If they'd been like Roof or like the Pulse or Pensacola shooters, they'd have done something much more violent than trespassing on the building.
By the way, I've been wondering what might have happened if the Senators had not all gotten the same idea at the same time and run out of the Senate chamber, leaving it to the protesters. What if a Senator or 2 or 3 had stayed in place, where they belonged and the protesters had to face them?

Ruling-class priorities appear to determine how we address police shootings of unarmed protesters. And the press is happy to go along, because of course.
