Flotsam and Jetsam - Iran Israel War Going Swimmingly

For the Israelis, who seem to have established near total control of Iran's airspace. Iran is still capable of popping out ballistic missiles and launching them, but the launchers are being steadily eroded away. Israel now has the freedom to go after, shall we say, less military and more political targets. Capt. Ed at Hat Hair VIP, reads NYT, WSJ: What In the World Happened to Iran? UPDATE: Trump Warns Tehran to Evacuate. Matt Margolis at PJM, Trump Departs G7 Early. Is Something Big About to Go Down? Althouse doesn't approve of the G7's grammar, and blames Trump, "We urge that the resolution of the Iranian crisis leads to a broader de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza." "That's the official statement, quoted in "Trump leaves G-7 meeting early to deal with Mideast; signs group statement/Trump signed the G-7’s statement backing Israel and criticizing Iran after discussions with other leaders and changes to the initial draft, a U.S. official said" (WaPo). "This sentence feels as though it began with many different words that have been swapped out for awkward substitutions. We're told Trump wouldn't sign the original draft. I'll bet that was better written, but the edited version we see won Trump's signature. Perhaps he wanted it to say nothing specifically discernible (other than "including a ceasefire in Gaza"). And perhaps he wanted to endorse military victory for Israel — AKA "the resolution of the Iranian crisis" — and didn't want or need to say it outright. He did get the others to sign onto that." Vijeta Uniyal at LI, IDF Issues Evacuation Order for Tehran Ahead of Possible Strike, "IDF spokesman: Israel has “achieved full aerial superiority over Tehran’s skies.”" VodkaPundit at PJM, Is Israel About to Do the (Almost) Unthinkable? They have enough Iranian allies to permit this. It does seem like you'd need agents on-scene to plant car bombs." I doubt the military effectiveness of targeting scientists at this point. And THE IDF SEEMS TO HAVE A HANDLE ON THINGS BUT IT’S NICE TO BE PREPARED IN CASE THE MULLAHS GET FRISKY WITH OUR PEOPLE: "Uncle Sam Assembles A Big Stick. “A major military airlift appears to now be underway, as an unprecedented number of U.S. Air Force KC-135 and KC-46 Aerial-Refueling Tankers have departed from airbases across the United States and appear to be preparing to cross the Atlantic towards Europe.”" Beege Welborn at Hat Hair is looking on the bright side, Good Deeds: Israel Pounding the Poo Out of Iran May Save Christians in Nigeria

Dave Bernstein at Insty, I DON’T THINK THE AYATOLLAH IS TRYING TO BRING THE US INTO THE WAR: "But some of his subordinates seem to have other ideas. Iran-backed militias in Iraq have tried to attack US bases with drones. And yesterday the US embassy annex in Tel Aviv, which is really our primary building in Israel, was damaged by an Iranian rocket. I am very familiar with the geography there, my wife once did a “detail” for the US government in that building. On one side, you have beach and ocean. On the other, you have mostly low-rise buildings and parking lots. To the north and south, you have a bunch of scattered hotels, with space between them. In short, if you are firing rockets accurate within X meters, but not fully accurate, this is not an area you’d be targeting because you’d be unlikely to hit anything significant, and your rocket might well just fall into the ocean. Which suggests that someone was, in fact, targeting the embassy." Flotsam and Jetsam - Another UFO Shot Down, More Documents

And, just possibly, a another being hunted over the skies of Montana. There's definitely something weird going on in the skies over North America. At Fox, Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says US shot down 'high altitude airborne object' over North America, "The unidentified object over Canada comes the day after the United States shot down an unknown object in Alaska." Nick Arama at Red State says the 'Object' Shot Down Over Canada Similar to What Was Shot Down in Alaska; Pilots Divulge More Concerning Info "The official described it as “small, cylindrical,” and smaller than the Chinese spy balloon that was shot down by the U.S. military last week. It also appears to have penetrated some distance into Canadian territory before it was taken down." Breaking911@Breaking911 "CNN: US Pilots approaching object shot down over Alaska said the aircraft interfered with their plane’s sensors, another said they ‘could identify no identifiable propulsion system and they did not know how it was actually staying in the air’" Sundance at CTH, NORAD Tracks Another – U.S. Shoots Down Another “Unidentified Object” Over Canadian Yukon Airspace. At Da Wire, New Information Released About Object U.S. Military Shot Down Over Alaska "The unidentified object that the U.S. military shot down over Alaska on Friday reportedly had a “cylindrical shape” and was about the size of a small car. A U.S. official told Politico that the object did not appear to have any “observable surveillance equipment.”"

And then to top it off, ABC, US shoots down another high-altitude object, Montana airspace temporarily closed. Da Mail,

NORAD confirmed on Saturday that there was a temporary space restriction over Montana.

The airspace was closed due to an object "to ensure the safety of air traffic in the area during NORAD operations. The restriction has been lifted," the statement read.

"NORAD detected a radar anomaly and sent fighter aircraft to investigate. Those aircraft did not identify any object to correlate to the radar hits. NORAD will continue to monitor the situation," the statement continued.

Traditionally over the years, the news division of the company broadcasting the Super Bowl has interviewed the president. When Joe Biden campaigned to be president, he promised a return to normal. He said the professionals would be in charge of government again. Since he began his term as president, things have been anything but normal. Here we are at Super Bowl weekend and another example of Biden’s not-normal America pops up.

Biden refused to commit to doing an interview with an anchor from Fox News Channel, this year’s Super Bowl broadcast channel. Think Bret Baier. Nope. Apparently, Joe Biden is scared to face a political journalist on America’s most-watched cable news network. Instead of agreeing to an interview with FNC, Team Biden negotiated an interview on Fox Soul, a Fox streaming service. Ever heard of it? Me, neither.

“Please ensure that the boxes in your office in Boston remain secure in a locked space and are not accessed by anyone,” National Archives official Gary Stern wrote on Nov. 7 to Biden attorneys Patrick Moore and Bob Bauer.

The email was sent five days after Biden’s lawyers say they discovered classified documents at Biden’s post-vice presidency office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington.

Jazz Shaw at Haut Hare, Is Twitter censorship "the new red scare?"

Today’s headline question was posed by Jonathan Turley in a new op-ed at the New York Post. Turley has done more than simply observe the House hearings into censorship by proxy on Twitter, abetted by the FBI, the Biden campaign, and others. He was called to Washington to testify himself. The damning revelations uncovered in the Twitter Files should have been setting off alarm bells for anyone with even a hint of respect for freedom of speech and the First Amendment. But the reaction from too many Democrats and their MSM stenographers has been one more reminiscent of Joe McCarthy and the red scare era in the 50s. Rather than demanding answers, these critics are attacking the witnesses and labeling people “Putin apologists” and all sorts of other names. As Turley puts it, “the red scare is back and it is going blue.”

Jan. 6 + 3

A mishmash of articles, some, I confess, misfiled for a few days and rediscovered.

Vince Coyner at Am Think thinks (no, not yet), that  There Was No Insurrection But There Was A Coup. Ilana Mercer at Town Hall says Deplorables, Cancel the January 6 PSYOP! "Deplorables should rejoice for the Democrats are having a fit, and that’s fun. Rejoice, but do not partake in or dignify the production. Ignore Jan. 6 as you would “spam for penis extensions.” " Newsweek,  Peter Navarro MSNBC Interview About Jan 6 Viewed 1M Times: 'You Are Describing a Coup'. Insty, THE NEW AMERICAN STASI: “Working with information from online sleuths who style themselves as ‘Sedition Hunters,’ the authorities have made more than 700 arrests — with little sign of slowing down.” "And yet no one has been charged with sedition. I wonder why?"   At Haut Hair, John Sexton wonders Why is the left suddenly talking about a second Civil War?

My own take is that all of this agita is about the fact that Democrats know they could lose a bunch of upcoming elections. They can’t face that possibility so they’re increasingly claiming the process is rigged and we’re already at war. But as I said before, Democrats losing doesn’t mean democracy has failed or civil war is at hand. It just means Democrats are unpopular and in a democracy, unpopular things can be made to go away.

At Fox,  Gutfeld: Did Biden just declare a civil war on Americans? "Only 11% of Americans call Biden a 'very strong leader.'" Ace, Media-Government Complex Puts January 6 Propaganda Into Overdrive as Journalists Cry That They Feel Unsafe, "Journalists: We just don't complain about being called mean names, or being "harassed" or "abused" online, enough." Tim Graham slams Radical Raskin's 'Unthinkable' Suicide Milking

Nowhere in any of these 11 interviews — no matter how lengthy — did anyone note that for all of the outrage over challenging the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election, no one said a thing about Raskin challenging the legitimacy of the 2016 presidential election on the House floor on Jan. 6, 2017.

Insty, HOW’S ALL THE JANUARY 6 HYSTERIA PLAYING? Trump approval higher than day he left.

At Town Hall Rebecca Downs reports RINO Liz Cheney's January 6 Fox News Interview Did Not Go How She Wanted "Liz Cheney told another Big Lie because she didn't want to admit an obvious truth: she works for Pelosi. Liz Cheney is the Vice Chair and the Committee's charter explicitly requires a ranking member, but they don't have one. The Committee is illegitimate and violating House Rules"   Nick Arama at Red State, Liz Cheney Melts Down When Asked a Question That Does-in the Jan. 6 Committee

Chuck Cooke at NR, Ted Cruz Debases Himself for the Base, even less kind than Ace, Ted Cruz Apologizes, Equivocates About His "Terrorist Attack" Remark on Tucker Carlson.

The redoubtable Julie Kelly at Am Great, Was the FBI’s Whitmer Chicanery a Warm-up for January 6? " By removing three dirty cops from the witness list, the Justice Department hopes to prevent any cross-examination during the trial and, one supposes, any link to January 6." And a strange claim from the prosecutors, from ET, FBI Informant in Whitmer Kidnapping Plot Was a ‘Double Agent’

The DOJ’s revelation came Jan. 6 in a response to a motion from the defendants to admit as evidence 258 statements they believe will prove the FBI entrapped them.

The statements that the defendants want to have admitted as evidence include audio recordings, where an FBI informant “Steve” is allegedly heard making statements about how to plan and execute the kidnapping of Whitmer. The defendants—Adam Fox, Barry Croft, Kaleb Franks, Daniel Harris, and Brandon Caserta—argue that these statements will prove that it was FBI informants like Steve who actually facilitated and encouraged the failed plot.

But far from helping facilitate the plot, one of the FBI’s 12 informants actively helped the defendants to thwart government’s investigation, prosecutors said in their Jan. 6 filing.

“In defiance of agents’ instructions, [confidential human source] Steve contacted at least one of the defendants shortly before their arrest and said he had been stopped by the ‘feds.’ After, he contacted another informant (not knowing he/she was an informant), to ask him/her to delete the in-car recording of their surveillance of the Governor’s home,” prosecutors said. “CHS Steve told the informant that he would act as the leader in coordinating attacks in multiple states going forward.”
This FBI operation has been a clown show from start to finish. And it's the same team that covered Jan. 6.

At Haut Hair, Jazz Shaw reveals that Seattle Police faked "right-wing insurrection" when CHAZ formed. Pouring gasoline on the fire. If they had the FBI resources, they could have hired actual Proud Boys to play the part.

And thus concludeth the week of Jan. 6.

Also Insty, IT’S THE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF A MOSTLY PEACEFUL PROTEST THAT PEOPLE ARE CALLING AN INSURRECTION. "But since no one has actually been charged with insurrection, I have to ask: Can you have an insurrection without insurrectionists?" WSJ, Stop Calling Jan. 6 an ‘Insurrection’, "That’s a legal term that denotes much more than a sporadically violent riot or disturbance."We have a republic, if we can keep it. Jimmy Carter, or his ghostwriter, at NYT cited at Haut Hair, I fear for our democracy. Althouse has some perspective, "One year ago, a violent mob, guided by unscrupulous politicians, stormed the Capitol and almost succeeded in preventing the democratic transfer of power." Writes Jimmy Carter — or someone writing under the name Jimmy Carter — in The New York Times.

I would "fear for our democracy" if a mob could seize power by seizing the Capitol, but only a little, because I don't think a mob could seize the Capitol. I saw my state's capitol occupied by protesters — with the intent to obstruct the operation of government — for 4 months, back in 2011. They delayed legislative action for quite a while, but they didn't take over governmental power. Their presence was tolerated — it didn't need to be — and eventually the law was passed and the group went home.

The Wisconsin protesters characterized what they were doing — interfering with the duly elected government — as "democracy," chanting, endlessly, "This is what democracy looks like." That is, those who win the elections should be subjected to continual criticism, vigorous protest, and friction every step of the way as they try to carry out the agenda that won the election. That's real democracy.

Is Carter pushing the idea that everyone is required to believe the announced results of the election are true and that democracy is endangered if they don't? If so, how does he handle the "Russian collusion" theory that dogged Trump for years?

Dateline, Washington D.C. -- Today President Biden signed legislation making January 6th an annual national holiday.

Bonfire Day (as it is to be called) has been set aside as a national day of remembrance. "January 6th is to be forever remembered as the day of Donald Trump's plot to blow-up the Capitol building, the day when our democracy and the American way of life were snuffed out," the document says.

From this day forward, Bonfire Day will be celebrated in every community across the nation with bonfires and the burning in effigy of Donald Trump and any others implicated in the destruction of our free democratic government and the American way of life.

Loyal citizens will join together to reinforce the communal spirit by burning dangerous books and by peacefully looting and torching local groceries, department stores, gas stations, and car dealerships.

Below is my column in the Hill on the continued calls to disqualify Republican members of Congress to prevent them from running for reelection. What is maddening is that Democratic groups and commentators are seeking to remove as many as 120 Republicans from the ballots in the name of democracy. It is like burning books in the name of literacy. Yet, on this anniversary of the January 6th riot, members of Congress and Democratic groups want to block voters from reelecting their preferred representatives. Election 2020 Never Rests

But it's at least a slow day. Judicial Watch reports Ashli Babbitts death was a homicide in NEW: Ashli Babbitt Shooting Emails Released! But we knew that. Any time a person kills another person it's a homicide, the question is whether or not it was justified, and just what are the rules that decide. Also, interestingly, the DC coroners office attempted to have her body cremated on Jan. 8. They were certainly in a hurry to dispose of the evidence. Also,

Additionally, Babbitt’s fingerprints were emailed to a person supposedly working for the DC government, which resulted in Microsoft “undeliverable” messages written in Chinese characters being returned.

Weird, huh? Yahoo! cites Nancy Pelosi calling Officers who died after defending Capitol on Jan. 6 'martyrs of democracy' A big sleight of hand maneuver there. One officer (Brian Sicknick) died Jan. 7 from a stroke that could not be linked to the riot. Since then, four more officers who were at the Capitol that day committed suicide. It's a remarkable run of bad luck, worthy of the Clintons, but as far as I know, none of those suicides has been linked to Jan. 6 by testimony or suicide note. Perhaps they're going to drag the families to the star chamber to force them to testify to that effect, though.

Komonews (Seattle) reports Seattle police Chief Diaz fires two officers who were in DC during Jan. 6 riot. Mind you, they did not enter the Capitol building, but
The two officers were found to have crossed the outdoor barriers established by the Capitol Police and were directly next to the Capitol Building. Clear evidence places them directly next to the Capitol Building.

Maybe, having been in Seattle, they didn't take barriers as seriously as others might. Nick Arama at Red State thinks Ben Shapiro Just Lights up Malcolm Nance When He Pushes False Jan. 6 Narrative

Fox reports Texas Dems who fled state sue Gov. Abbott for trying to bring them back: 'Discomfort and embarrassment', Wasn't that your choice when you left the state instead of doing your job?
The 22 plaintiffs have been "deprived of liberty for substantial periods of time, suffered much anxiety and distress over separation from their families, and much discomfort and embarrassment," the complaint filed late Friday alleges.

Abbott, House Speaker Dade Phelan and State Rep. James White are all named as defendants in the case.

The lawsuit alleges that the three Republicans have "by public statements and otherwise, to attempt to deny, coerce, threaten, intimidate, and prevent" the Democrats and constituents from voting in elections, speaking publicly about their constitutional rights, and their right to not being arrested without probable cause.

More from Karen Townsend at Hot Hair, Not The Onion: Runaway Texas lawmakers file frivolous lawsuit against Abbott, 2 other GOP leaders

They truly are the gang who can’t shoot straight. Two of the Democrats flew from D.C. to Portugal for summer vacations last week. The lawyer for the Democrats, Craig Anthony Washington, is also reportedly practicing law under a probationally suspended license. So, there’s that. They provide no evidence for any of their alleged grievances.
. . .
My favorite of the claims is that the Democrats say they have been “deprived of liberty for substantial periods of time.” Again, they left Austin on private planes, stay in nice hotels paid for by other people, their meals are paid for and care packages have been shipped up to them from Dallas Democrats. They haven’t even given up the per diems they receive during the general session and special sessions. C’mon, man. Their liberty is intact. Complaining now that their reputations have been damaged is laughable. They chose to do all of this.

Best of all, the Democrats know this is a frivolous action and not worth the paper it’s written on – they are claiming $5 in actual damages and $10 in punitive damages. Sure sounds like something The Onion would publish, right? We’ll see if they show up in Austin today for the start of the special session. The only thing they accomplished in D.C. was a meeting with Kamala, but not Joe Biden, and they postponed the inevitable passage of election integrity reform legislation. Good work, Democrats.

Mark Ellis at PJ Media asks Are Michael Wolff's Troubling Revelations About Fox News and the RNC True?. Did Fox corporate turn away from Trump to help Biden? Almost certainly.

For close watchers of the political scene, the potential revelations here may seem like the observations of Captain Obvious. But if it is true that both Fox News and the RNC heatedly or cynically abandoned Mr. Trump when he needed them most, the truth of these abandonments must be communicated writ large to millions of voters who are still wondering, in the wake of 2020, what the hell happened.

From Paul Bedard at WaEx, Sean Spicer: Trump’s running. Talk about Capt. Obvious. But 2024 is still a good ways away.  A lot can happen.

And on the lighter side, Variety informs us that Cobie Smulders to Play Ann Coulter in ‘Impeachment: American Crime Story’ After Betty Gilpin Exits. Yeah, I had to look her up. She played the chick in Stumptown, which we enjoyed, which probably also explains why it got canceled.

Cobie Smulders will now play Ann Coulter in “Impeachment: American Crime Story” after Betty Gilpin, who was originally set in the role, exited the cast due to scheduling complications during the pandemic.

Smulders is the newest addition to the cast of this season. This news comes just after FX released the official trailer on Wednesday. Smulders is known for playing Robin in the popular CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” and was most recently seen as Dex Parios in “Stumptown,” which was canceled by ABC in Sept. 2020.
Betty Gilpin

Gilpin shared her regrets about having to leave the role of Coulter on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in June. She called the situation “another COVID disappointment” before performing a comedic impression of the conservative media pundit reciting the children’s rhyme “Milk Milk Lemonade.” Gilpin said the impression took “a year [of] listening to Ann Coulter audiobooks” to perfect.

While I'm sure they're making her out to be a moral monster, at least they're choosing cute women to portray her.

Ox, Gored

Seattle radio host and Twitter-based criminal defense advocate Paul Gallant "dunked" on President Donald Trump last month by denying that the riots are violent, then the radio host was scored on by rioters who set fire to his apartment. Now he's taking up arms.

"Walked through it last night out of curiosity and saw no burning, pillaging, or deaths," Gallant responded in June to Trump's tweet calling out the violent leftists who continue to terrorize Seattle. "Chill dawg," Gallant added sarcastically.

Last night, Gallant had a sudden change of heart towards the "peaceful protestors" when he came home to his apartment complex vandalized. He found the Starbucks underneath torched with graffiti plastered on the storefront. Cops told residents to stay away in case of explosives inside.
Well, it must be your fault for living in a racist apartment. But it was still a "mostly peaceful" riot, right?
"I feel like I need to buy a firearm, because clearly this is going to keep happening. Enough is enough," Gallant furiously typed.

Not In My Back Yard is a hard red pill to swallow.
But the schadenfreude is delicious.

Greenlanders Defy BLM Movement

Breitbart, Greenland Statue Referendum: Given Direct Say, People Vote AGAINST Removal
People in Nuuk, Greenland, have voted overwhelmingly against removing a statue vandalised by activists.

In June, the clifftop statue of Norwegian missionary Hans Egede, who founded Nuuk — then known as GodthÃ¥b — and became Bishop of Greenland in the 1700s, was smeared with red paint and the slogan “DECOLONIZE”, prompting the authorities to organise a referendum on the monument’s fate.

But, despite the fact that Greenland, a territory of Denmark with a large degree of self-government — for example, it voted to leave the European Economic Community, as the European Union then was, in the 1980s, in large part to stop the bloc from controlling its territorial fisheries — is populated mainly by Greenlandic Inuits, with Danes and other Scandinavians accounting for less than 10 per cent of the population, the public voted overwhelmingly to keep the statue.

Voters who wished to maintain Egede’s monument as an important part of Greenland’s built heritage took over 60 per cent of the votes cast.

The poll marks one of the only times, if not the only time, the public have been given a direct say over historic monuments deemed “problematic” by left-liberal activists in the wake of George Floyd’s death in the United States, which has spawned a movement which has progressed rapidly from protesting police brutality to demanding the political and sometimes physical dismantling of Western institutions and symbols.
Greenland has an interesting history. It's northern area was populated from 2500 BC, if you could call it that, by a non-Inuit (read Eskimo) culture called the Dorset from North America when the Norse arrived in 986 AD. Inuit Thule people supplanted the Dorset by 1300 AD, and began to conflict with the Norse. The Norse abandoned Greenland, either due to shitty weather, or Inuit, whom they called Skrælings, depredations,(or both; why accept a choice when both can be true).
Greenland was not formally under the Norwegian crown until 1261. The Norse colonies disappeared in the late 15th century when Norway was hit by the Black Death and entered a severe decline. Soon after their demise, beginning in 1499, the Portuguese briefly explored and claimed the island, naming it Terra do Lavrador (later applied to Labrador in Canada).

In the early 18th century, Danish explorers reached Greenland again. To strengthen trading and power, Denmark–Norway affirmed sovereignty over the island. Because of Norway's weak status, it lost sovereignty over Greenland in 1814 when the union was dissolved. Greenland became Danish in 1814, and was fully integrated in the Danish state in 1953 under the Constitution of Denmark.
And how is the movement going in the US? Cut to Stacy McCain, Arson, Shooting in ‘Mostly Peaceful’ Protests Against Police Brutality
Don’t call them “riots.” They’re Joe Biden campaign rallies:
A Black Lives Matter protester has been shot dead during a march in Austin, as a youth detention center and police precinct have been torched in Seattle and demonstrators gather again in Portland amid stand-offs with Donald Trump’s federal agents.
One protester was shot and killed when gunshots were fired during a protest in downtown Austin, Texas, Saturday night.
Shocking footage showed people marching along the street holding banners demanding an end to police brutality and racism when loud shots rang out.
This comes as protests gathered steam across several US cities Saturday, two months on from the Memorial Day ‘murder’ of George Floyd and in a show of solidarity for Portland where demonstrators and federal agents have clashed ever since Trump sent federal troops in.
The president has so far deployed federal agents to Portland, Seattle and Chicago.
The streets of Seattle turned violent Saturday when protesters set fire to a youth detention center and a police precinct, leading cops to declare protests had turned into ‘riots’ that afternoon.
Portland geared up for its 59th night of unrest Saturday with swathes of demonstrators marching from the federal building to the Portland Marriott where they believe federal officers are staying, in the wake of a violent night Friday that ended with at least one person stabbed. . . .
Austin police confirmed that an adult male was shot and killed near an intersection in the city’s downtown around 9:52 p.m. during the protest Saturday night.
Social media footage shows demonstrators marching through the streets shouting ‘black lives’ and waving banners reading ‘BLM’ before several shots are fired. . . .
Initial reports indicate the victim was carrying a rifle and approached the suspect’s vehicle, who then opened fire fatally shooting the man. . . .
In Seattle, violence flared long before nightfall when people went on a rampage, torching buildings in the city, while a Wall of Moms and Vets took to the streets vowing to protect demonstrators from law enforcement.
This collection of rancid human debris is the Democratic Party “base.” These are Joe Biden’s core constituents. The question is, why would anyone want to surrender America to such vile scum?

So, How's That Summer of Love Going out in Seattle?

Summer Taylor
Not so well: Another in Stacy McCain's continuing series of Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes
Death by “social justice” on the Fourth of July:
A woman hit by a car while she and others were blocking a highway in Seattle died, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Harborview Medical Center told news outlets that Summer Taylor, a 24-year-old local, died late Saturday. The Washington State Patrol confirmed the death.
Taylor was one of two women hit by a man driving a white Jaguar around 1:36 a.m. on July 4.
Police had closed down a portion of the highway, I-5, just before midnight on Friday. Seattle police said in a report that the driver, 27-year-old Dawit Kelete, entered on an exit ramp before turning onto the highway to go in the correct direction.
The driver was approaching vehicles that were parked across the highway by protesters to block it when he “made a sharp left turn entering the right lane and struck two pedestrians,” police wrote.
Video footage showed the impact flinging the two women into the air. Photographs of the Jaguar showed damage consistent with a crash, Washington State Patrol Capt. Ron Mead told reporters at a press conference near the scene of the incident.
Diaz Love

The other protester hit was identified as Diaz Love, 32. She remains hospitalized in serious condition. Love was filming the protest in a video broadcast on Facebook Live that showed a group of a few dozen milling about on the highway. Just before the video ended, people began shouting “car.” The impact of the car striking the women can be heard as the broadcast ends.
Both she and and Taylor suffered broken bones and lacerations from the impact, according to the police report.
Kelete was taken into custody after passing sobriety tests. He was described as reserved and sullen. At one point, he asked if the two people that were hit were okay.
Kelete was booked on vehicular assault charges, according to jail records. Bail was denied. It wasn’t clear if the man had an attorney.
Protesters blocked I-5 for 18 straight days leading up to July 4, law enforcement officials said. Mead told the reporters that blocking the highway is illegal and a criminal act.
“We’ve said since May 30th, the freeway is not a safe place for pedestrians to be. Whether they’re protesters, whether they’re homeless, whether they’re broken down motorists, the freeway is simply not a safe place for pedestrians,” he said.
The state patrol said later Saturday that officers would arrest any protesters who tried to enter I-5.
According to Love’s social media accounts, she participated in other protests blocking the freeway in recent days. The Black Lives Matter supporter was recently at the so-called autonomous zone that protesters created in Seattle.
The video is just horrific.

My mother taught me not to play on freeways.
The dead woman was a militant #BlackLivesMatter supporter and also identified as “non-binary.” The driver of the car was a black man, apparently an immigrant from Ethiopia.

So . . . white women blocking a freeway to protest on behalf of #BlackLivesMatter were hit by a black man driving a white Jaguar.
Didn't he know they were protesting for him. Not exactly a Buggaloo Boy. Narrative fail. Vicky Taft. PJ Media, Cops Re-Thinking Protest Rules After Car Driven by Black Man Kills White Seattle BLM Freeway Blocker
OK, so idiots block the freeway.

Agreed, they’re idiots.

Yeah, but they were Black Lives Matter idiots blocking the freeway, so it must be OK.

Right.

But, a white chick was involved in the Black Lives Matter idiots blocking the freeway.

Sure, OK.

A man drove a car hitting a white woman in the Black Lives Matter protest.

Are you sure it was a white chick?

Yes, dude sent her to the hospital and she died.

What? Kill him!

But the white chick was killed.

And she was apparently killed by a black man, Dawit Kelete.

Wait, the driver was black?

Yeah, the driver was black who killed the white chick.

Free Dawit Kelete!

Wait, why did the cops let anyone go on the freeway?

Because they were Black Lives Matter.

Defund the police!
