Flotsam and Jetsam - A Mohammed for Michigan, Fauci cited for Contempt

We're still obsessing over the win for Abdulrahman Mohammed El-Sayed in the Democrat's Michigan senate primary over the DNC-E's AWFL choice. Northern Barbarian @xnoesbueno, "Possibly the funniest sentence I've read in a while though I'm not sure I've fully grokked the depths of it yet." Maryland, My Maryland

Bob Spencer at PJM has this story: Muslims Should 'Sacrifice Their Blood for the Sake of Allah,' Says Imam... In Maryland

You mean they should open a vein and bleed all over the Koran? Umm, not really.

Ragab Abdelmoneim is not some wild-eyed fanatic screaming obscenities on a streetcorner. On the contrary, he is a prominent, respected member of the Muslim community in the U.S. today. Alabama’s 1819 News reported recently that he is “now the Imam and ‘Resident Scholar’ at the Islamic Center of Maryland.” An Alabama publication is reporting on him because before he moved to Maryland, he served as an imam at the Islamic Academy in Huntsville, Ala., and was also a “part-time lecturer at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).”

Feel free to try to convert people with your words. But otherwise, be prepared to spill your own blood.

Flotsam and Jetsam - SPLC Paid For Cross-Burning, Charlottesville Buses

On May 28, six days into the hunger strike and four days before the stand-down, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told the White House press room that a joint IRS-FBI investigation into protest funding networks had made “substantial progress.” Then he added the line that mattered: “If a grant recipient is violent, if they are suppressing people’s rights, then YOU are responsible for that.”

The medical examiner has testified that Vickrum Digwa’s 21 cm blade had caused a catastrophic wound directly to Henry's heart. Because the blade penetrated so deeply, the blood was pooling inside his chest cavity rather than soaking his clothes immediately. According to the pathologist, the trauma to his heart was unsurvivable from the moment it occurred, arguing that it didn't matter who was handcuffed at the scene first. The Deputy Chief Constable has publicly stated that "the pathologist who spoke in court was clear: there was nothing officers could have done that day to save Henry. His wound was deep and internal, the bleeding extensive but internal." Henry's father, Mark Nowak, stressed that while the wound was fatal, the police's mishandling denied his son the right to die with dignity, care, or peace. Flotsam and Jetsam - Paxton Takes Texas

Well, that was a nice break; after medical stuff in the morning (no, not the eye, but it turns out I don't have skin cancer, yet), a niece from the Left Coast showed up with one day's warning with her boyfriend in tow. They were travelling between a wedding in Manhattan, and a skate park in North Carolina. We had a nice long walk on the beach, and we showed them how to find shark's teeth, not that they found any, and had a genuine Slower Maryland dinner at a low-key seafood restaurant in Solomons, where our only regret was that they had no soft-shell crabs. Gabby was fascinated by her first cousin once removed (I had to check) and her tattoos, and showed off outrageously, only having a minor hissy when we denied her request for cranberry juice for dinner. I persuaded the waitress to bring her a small glass of cranberry juice, which she stubbornly finished off, but admitted that apple juice was the better choice after all.

To no one intelligent's surprise, with the Trump endorsement, Ken Paxton easily beat John Cornyn in the runoff election in the Republican primary for a Senate seat in Texas. Flotsam and Jetsam - Iran Deal? Not So Fast!

News of a possible deal came after a roller-coaster few weeks, with Mr. Trump at times threatening to restart attacks on Iran, and at others saying there was progress in last-ditch negotiations to stave off a return to full-scale war — all while offering few details. Then, on Saturday, the president announced on social media that the two countries had 'largely negotiated' a memorandum of understanding 'pertaining to PEACE.' On Sunday, however, he said he had ordered his negotiators 'not to rush into a deal.'..." The NYT reports." Hat Hair's Capt. Ed reads Axios: Iran Agreed to Discuss Surrendering Its Uranium Stocks; UPDATE: Trump Responds. "This may not be the Bridge and Power Day outcome that hawks had hoped to see. If this is accurate and it holds, it's not TACO Tuesday either. It leaves Trump with all of his options in place while keeping pressure on the regime to comply with the biggest and most dangerous threat it poses – the development of nuclear weapons. That is the true existential threat to Israel, not to mention other Gulf states that are now aligning with Israel and the US, and it would head off a nuclear arms race in one of the most unstable regions of the world." All speculation and propaganda to the contrary is false. Some hardline elements of Iran’s govt (IRGC) have pushed fake stories & propaganda to try to kill this negotiation. -Iran deal is NOT done (95%, but still haggling over some language). No deal being signed today. May be a few more days before this is done. -Iran will NOT get any money or sanctions relief up front. -Iran must turn over nuclear stockpile to get anything. USA position is that failure to meet deal commitments means Iran gets nothing. -Long term USA objective is preventing Iran from having nuclear weapon. -Initial deal point is to re-establish free flow of commerce by reopening Strait of Hormuz. Deal should have 2 phases: Step 1 - Open Strait of Hormuz. Give world economy breathing room. Iran agrees to give up enriched uranium. Step 2 - Get the nuclear material turned over. Only then can Iran get sanctions relief. Bottom line: goal is to make a deal that lowers costs for Americans, calms world energy markets, and guarantees that Iranians cannot have a nuclear weapon over the long term. We aren’t there yet.
