RIP: Boss Hawg of Tilghman Island

Buddy Harrison dies at 80

The iconic Captain Buddy Harrison, charter boat captain, restaurant owner and Eastern Shoreman died at the University of Maryland Medical Center Wednesday morning. Levin “Buddy” Harrison III was 80 years old.

His son, Levin Harrison IV, “Little Buddy,” said his father’s death was not sudden. The elder Buddy Harrison had taken ill just after Labor Day and was undergoing radiation treatments.

Last Thursday Harrison had some difficulty breathing and his children took him to the hospital in Easton. He was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center Thursday night.

“He was pretty conscious and alert the whole time,” his son Little Buddy said. He said his father was very alert through Tuesday afternoon.

All of Harrison’s seven grandchildren came to visit him over the weekend. Little Buddy said his father requested to be taken off the ventilator Tuesday afternoon.
