Time for the annual Fourth of July fireworks down on the beach. This year, the usual supplier for Long Beach was not present (perhaps scared off by the post-Arthur wind, which proved not to be a big issue), so most of these fireworks are from Calvert Beach, a short walk north.
This was good in one sense, that the fireworks were mostly far enough away that the whole display fit the screen, but I did miss chasing the big explosions overhead.
Remember, this is not a "government sponsored" event. This is individual citizens celebrating the independence of the country, illegally (although, our local cops come to watch, too).
