A quick thunderstorm arrived around 7PM, associated with the arrival of the so called Polar Vortex. Intense lightning, high winds (just how high I can't say, the NOAA site is down) and 1.5 inches of rain in about a half hour.
Of course, the power went out just as the storm was getting ready to pass. After sitting in the gloom for a half hour or so, hoping the power would come back, we got the generator set up to power stuff in the front room, and I went to check to boat, which is fine.
However, there are a lot of downed limbs, and a few trees, and I strongly suspect that's what happened to our power. The whole neighborhood is out, 857 homes. But the TV and cable modems work, and so we're not exactly back in the 19th century any longer.
I guess we'll find out if the outage outlasts longer than a bottle of propane.
