Election 2020: All I Got for Christmas was a Broken Election

To be fair, we haven't looked under the tree yet.

In this case, the author is basing his claim of unfitness on allegations that President Trump has been talking about invoking martial law to overturn the election results. This would apparently constitute proof of mental imbalance or something in Campos’ eyes. Frankly, I don’t doubt that the subject has come up, but I don’t know any serious person who thinks that Donald Trump would actually attempt it.

OAN, Ariz. Judge Says State Legislatures Have Power To Enforce Maricopa County Election Subpoenas

Fox News notes this could make the case moot:
The justices this week set a reply deadline for Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar and the other respondents named in the case of Jan. 22. The campaign had asked for the Supreme Court to order those on the other side of the litigation to respond by Wednesday and have reply briefs from the Trump campaign submitted by Thursday. It also asked the court to rule by Jan. 6. But the court did not oblige.

This means that by the time Boockvar and the others the Trump campaign is seeking to take to the Supreme Court even respond to the petition, President-elect Joe Biden will already be sworn in.

At that point, the court could simply decline to hear the case, saying it is moot or impossible for them to resolve at that point….
Which as Jonathan Turley notes, creates a near-impossibility:
Not a good sign when the Supreme Court extends the schedule for argument in the Pennsylvania election challenge beyond Inauguration Day. The reply is not due until Jan. 22nd. Inaugurations are like cats: it is hard to get either to walk backwards.

News Thud, Supreme Court sets response deadline in Trump campaign lawsuit, but Team Trump isn’t going to like the date… Marlo Horne at Am Think wonders What are the new SCOTUS justices thinking?

It is hard to imagine that the new SCOTUS justices are not concerned about the future and their reputations. We are not only at a crossroads; we are also at a precipice. If we go over that precipice by allowing election fraud, whether or not we ever recover is uncertain, perhaps impossible. Free and fair elections may well become a thing of the past. If the new SCOTUS justices choose not to fulfill their responsibilities, there will be millions of us who will condemn them for their lack of action — an especially bitter condemnation because we were once their most ardent supporters. But worse, when their children realize that their constitutional rights are being increasingly denied, they will eventually ask their parents the poignant question: why did you not protect our Constitution and ensure that I could live in a free country, as you have done most of your life?

After Nov. 3, the meaning of some words and concepts abruptly changed. Have you noticed how new realities have replaced old ones?

Media cross-examination of the president is now an out-of-date idea. The time for gotcha questions has come and gone. Why ask a president whether he is a traitor or a crook when you can focus on his favorite flavor of milkshake or compliment him on his socks?

The old pre-election truth was that new vaccines take years to develop. The new postelection truth is that it's no big deal to bring out new vaccines in nine months. . . .

And the Georgia runoff elections? Natalie Winters at TNP reports 8,000 Ballots Requested In GA Senate Race Believed To Be From Non-Residents, Secretary Of State Investigating, Newsmax, USPS Reaches Deal With Civil Rights Groups on Georgia Ballots

The USPS will consider Georgia ballots that remain in processing plants within three days of the elections as express mail and provide next-day delivery. It also said that ballots coming from a New York-based printing vendor will also get express delivery, and that completed ballots will get sent straight to vote counters, avoiding processing plants completely.

Huh? But good news from Fox, NRA invests at least $4.5 million in Georgia runoff elections.
