A day or so ago, I reported on how a local 5 year old kindergarten student had been interrogated for 2 hours (he peed his pants), and suspended from school for 10 days because he snuck a cowboy style cap pistol to school. Today, we have good news, his sentence has been reduced to 3 days, which just happens to be the amount of suspension he has already served:
School officials in Calvert County ruled Friday that a kindergarten boy suspended for taking his cowboy-style cap gun onto a school bus may return to school Monday, according to the child’s family and a lawyer.Ed Morrisey at Hot Air (where I found this update) thinks this is an attempt to avoid firings, or at best a hefty law suit. However, since the boys mother works in the same school district as a teacher I doubt it will come to that.
The decision, made at a Friday disciplinary conference, cuts the boy’s 10-day suspension back to the three days he has already served. The family’s request to clear the incident from the boy’s school records must be considered separately, those involved said.
