The smallest of our butterflies (I think), the
Eastern Tailed Blue. Only on a really good day will one open its wings long enough for a photo from the top:
Mostly you see them like this.
Another little one, a
Gray Hairstreak. I don't think I've ever seen one with its wings flat. Which is OK, they're just sort of gray.
Not to be confused with the
Red Banded Hairstreak.
