Election 2020: Two More "Capitol Kerflufflers" Take a Plea

According to a Morning Consult Poll from Fuzzy Slippers at LI,  Pelosi’s Jan 6th Panel “is largely preaching to its own choir” and from I&I, Just 36% Of Independents Think The Jan. 6 Commission Is A Genuine Fact-Finding Effort, and I assume they mostly lean left. Most of the "independents" I knew from work were people who found the Democrats too right-wing.

Via the Wombat's In The Mailbox: 08.02.21, First Street Journal reports  that Two more Capitol kerfufflers plead guilty to misdemeanors

A Kentucky couple who were at the Jan. 6 Capitol riot in Washington, D.C., have pleaded guilty to participating and face a maximum punishment of six months in prison, according to federal court records filed Tuesday.

Thomas and Lori Vinson, who were arrested on Feb. 23 and charged with participating in the riot and other related crimes, have each pleaded guilty to one count of parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol Building, according to plea agreements filed in federal court. In addition to a maximum prison time of six months, the two defendants could also face a fine of up to $5,000.

Meanwhile a career kerfluffler is expected to get off scot free, Jesse Jackson arrested at Poor People’s Campaign March in DC (Fox). And, from Joy Pullman at Da Fed, If You Don’t Suspect Government Provocation At The 1/6 Riot, Start Paying Attention. If the FBI didn't have people in the "planning", they're incompetent. The FBI is not incompetent when it comes to infiltrating right wing groups. And from Am Con, General Milley’s Imaginary Coup. He has a savior complex

Julie Kelly at Am Great, Another Partisan Stunt by the U.S. Capitol Police

Only someone who has not paid any attention to how the U.S. Capitol Police department has conducted itself over the past seven months would take these officers’ accusations at face-value. The lies, the subterfuge, and the political theater from the agency should alarm all Americans, especially since USCP plans to expand its unaccountable operations to other states.

Meanwhile at Da Caller, Fourth Capitol Police Officer Dies By Suicide After Jan. 6 Riot. But no known relationship to Jan. 6. At NYPo, Kinzinger supports issuing Jan. 6 subpoenas to McCarthy, others. Right after Nancy Pelosi testifies under oath. Hah! Just kidding!

Obviously given the nature of the court rulings that have sustained the position of the state senate, the Maricopa County BoS view the legislative subpoena as legally valid but unenforceable. They appear to stand in open defiance of the state upper-chamber because the county board perceives no threat from any enforcement mechanism (law enforcement or state attorney).

Breaking news, most people are lazy, and voting is usually the least of their worries.

At Da Caller, House Republicans Urge Dismissal Of DOJ Lawsuit Against Georgia Election Law. “This lawsuit presents no viable basis for overturning the will of the citizens of Georgia, expressed through their elected representatives who have been given the constitutional authority and duty to regulate elections,” the brief read. “This lawsuit is without merit and should be dismissed.” A waste of effort. Let the Supreme Court do the lifting. Karen Townsend at Hot Hair reports Democrat legislators flock to D.C. to support flailing fleebaggers. Close the gates and don't let them out. But  It's Republicans Who Are a Threat to Democracy

When Donald Trump won the Presidency in 2016, it was a rude awakening for Democrats. It was time for the Democrats to humbly look inward regarding the reasons they lost the working class and middle America. The Democrats urgently needed to embark on a course of rectification, lest they became politically irrelevant.

How the Democrats react in reality?

Like the jilted lover who cannot accept rejection, they refused to concede that the public had voted against them. They were unequivocal that the fault was not theirs or that of their policies. The voter was called a bigot.

Worse, they became stalkers.

At Am Great, VDH makes the connection, Incompetence + Arrogance = Woke

Of course, public servants have long suffered the “Bloomberg effect”—focusing on misdemeanors to virtue signal competence as penance for failing to solve the existential crises. If you cannot clear New York City of snow in a timely manner, then lecture the trapped on everything from global warming to the dangers of super-sized soft drinks. Yet wokeism is a bit different since it now pervades our societies as a pandemic of its own.

Take Delta Airline CEO Ed Bastian. He earns $17 million in annual compensation, and lectures the state of Georgia and the nation at large on our supposedly racist voting laws. The issue at hand is mostly a requirement to show a valid ID to vote—in the manner one must present identification to enter the boarding area of Bastian’s planes. Surely if one should vote without an ID, why not then be allowed to board a Delta flight?

I also suggest the public try to call Delta’s consumer helplines to fix the airline’s post-quarantine screw-ups with credits, refunds, rebooking, and recalibrating charges. Just try it—but expect several hours of wait time on the phone. We know now Delta is woke, but what we don’t know is whether one’s past purchase of a ticket will ensure a spot on a Delta flight, or whether prior money or mileage credited will ever be returned or applied to future travel.

A cynical observer might suggest that if Ed Bastian cannot ensure adequate consumer service, it won’t matter since he weighs in on voting laws. (Or is it worse than that? Because he pontificates on voting laws and other assorted woke issues, he thinks he can simply worry less about his own consumer services?)

The Gorilla at Ace's Morning Rant,

The Democrats have signalled that these days are over and that no loss by them will be accepted.

Actually, they've been signalling this for some time. Stacey Abrams has become a permanent media fixture and has weaponized the term "voter suppression" as if it were a thing that actually existed. She lost her race by, what, 50,000 votes, so it wasn't even close. But her profession schtick is whining about the election she claims was stolen from her.

In the future, Democrats will claim that all of their election losses will be because they were stolen. Like Stacey says, it was voter supression by the GOP what done it.

The machinery is already in place, at least on the national level. Acccording to this epic thread:
It's a fact, according to Time Magazine, that mass riots were planned in cities across the country if Trump won. Sure, they were "protests", but they were planned by the same people as during the summer, and everyone knows what it would have meant. Judges have families, too. 31/x

ET, Former Head NSA Lawyer: Tucker Carlson’s Allegations Merit Further Investigation

According to former NSA general counsel Stewart Baker, this report supports the calls for an investigation made by Carlson and others. The report also supports the NSA’s earlier statement that it didn’t “target” Carlson, Baker said.

“So what about NSA/Carlson should be investigated and perhaps disclosed? The unmasking request, mainly. Motive matters. First, the requester should have given a reason for the unmasking. How plausible was it, given the requester’s position?” Baker wrote on Twitter.

“The second question about NSA/Carlson unmasking: How was Carlson identified when masked? ‘US Journalist’? ‘US Citizen’? That will help gauge whether the requester really needed to know the identity behind the mask.

“Traditionally, the intelligence communities would investigate the NSA/Carlson flap with full access to the classified data, and issue a report summarizing the investigation without disclosing the classified information. Not too hard if NSA has already done its own probe.”

Baker, now a partner at Steptoe & Johnson, also said that some aspects of the investigation would need to be protected due to the sensitivity of the intelligence operation. The NSA can’t provide the full context of the Carlson probe without disclosing a target and probably the method of intercept—both highly classified, according to Baker.

It makes sense that they would catch the conversation, it even makes some sense that he would be unmasked to somebody in the intel community.  No; what we really need to know is the pathway by which the unmasking was released to the press. And fire and prosecute every bureaucrat along that chain.
