Election 2020: Back in the Saddle Again

It's been a couple of days, and the pile is almost unmanagable, but let's dive in anyway. It appears that, despite President* Biden appointing Kamala Harris that role of Vote Rigger in Chief (I&Im Yeah, Right: After Border Debacle, Biden Picks Kamala To Push ‘Voting Rights Reform’), WaPoo whines that Manchin says he will not support voting rights bill, in blow to Biden agenda and a warning to his colleagues. Joe Manchin has put the kibosh on the current attempt by the Democrats to federalize the elections in their favor. From Althouse, "This more than 800-page bill has garnered zero Republican support. Why?"

"Are the very Republican senators who voted to impeach Trump because of actions that led to an attack on our democracy unwilling to support actions to strengthen our democracy? Are these same senators, whom many in my party applauded for their courage, now threats to the very democracy we seek to protect? The truth, I would argue, is that voting and election reform that is done in a partisan manner will all but ensure partisan divisions continue to deepen. With that in mind, some Democrats have again proposed eliminating the Senate filibuster rule in order to pass the For the People Act with only Democratic support. They’ve attempted to demonize the filibuster and conveniently ignore how it has been critical to protecting the rights of Democrats in the past.... The Senate, its processes and rules, have evolved over time to make absolute power difficult while still delivering solutions to the issues facing our country and I believe that’s the Senate’s best quality... Do we really want to live in an America where one party can dictate and demand everything and anything it wants, whenever it wants?"

Silly question, that last. Of course, most Democrats want to live in a country where they can dictate and demand everything. More at JTN, where John Solomon writes Manchin to vote against bill federalizing elections, dealing major blow to Democrats "Manchin revealed position in newspaper OpEd, citing partisan nature of bill", Matt Margolis at PJ Media,  Joe Manchin Just Crushed Two Democrat Power Grabs... for Now. The death of the filibuster, and the voting takeover, and AllahPundit at Hot Hair whines Manchin: I'm not voting for H.R. 1 -- and I'm not making a filibuster exception for any other voting rights bill either

The good news for them is that he is open to a more targeted bill. The bad news is that he’s not going to make any new carve-outs to the filibuster in order to pass it by a simple majority vote. If we’re going to reform voting, he says in today’s op-ed, we need Republican buy-in.

Which means no bill will pass. There’s no universe in which 10 Senate Republicans support legislation that will liberalize voting in the aftermath of Trump’s “stop the steal” campaign. Voting reform is dead, as of today.

But Doug Jones of (D-Alabama) thinks  Dems Can Get 10 Republican Senators to Support ‘Uniform Standards’ on Voting (Breitbart). Maybe, if it has voter ID, strict control of absentee and mail-in voting. Town Hall, Obama Suggests Republican States Passing Election Integrity Laws are 'Rigging the Game'. You mean unrigging the Democratic game, right?

Switching to the Jan. 6 Capitol Incursion, WaPoo crows that In pro-Trump speech, Pence says he doesn’t know if they’ll ‘ever see eye-to-eye’ on Jan. 6 Capitol attack, while Fox reports Trump declines to commit to running with Pence in 2024 "Ahead of a North Carolina GOP dinner, Trump says, 'Mike and I have a good relationship, but it's too early to be discussing running mates'" I think Pence may have outlived his usefulness. I think Trump is more popular with the Pence types than Pence.

File fourth indictment against  The Oath Keepers, which  NPR calls

“one of the largest anti-government extremist groups in the far-right patriot militia movement.” The group’s real crime, of course, is opposing Joe Biden; after the election, a founder of the Oath Keepers said the group would “resist” Biden’s presidency, an act of defiance considered mandatory in many quarters when it was directed at the Trump Administration from the Left.

Court documents show that the plaintiff, Aaron Babbitt, filed the lawsuit on April 21, 2021. Under Washington code, the MPD was supposed to produce the requested information or prove that the department is legally exempt from doing so within 15 days. As of June 4, the department has yet to do either.

Aaron Bobbitt’s attorney, Terrell Roberts, stated the problem with the lawsuit is that Capitol Police are not subject to the law regarding the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

“The complication here is that the Capitol Police are not subject to FOIA. However, they used the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia to conduct their investigation,” Roberts explained. “In other words, the United States Attorney’s Office did a criminal investigation and relied upon the Metropolitan Police Department to conduct their factual investigation. And so now that they’ve decided against bringing charges I am going to seek any kind of records that they may have collected in their investigation, including any records which identify the officer.”

Twitchy brings the receipts ‘Public virtue signaling’: Chris Wallace, Sen. Josh Hawley’s office add to the Jake Tapper pile-on and at Insty, ‘PUBLIC VIRTUE SIGNALING:’ Chris Wallace, Sen. Josh Hawley’s office add to the Jake Tapper pile-on.

Just to follow up on this post from few minutes ago where Rep. Elise Stefanik posted emails from Jake Tapper’s staff requesting an interview despite the CNN host telling the New York Times that he was “not asking for” interviews from Republicans who had issues with the 2020 election… Sen. Josh Hawley’s office also posted emails it received from Tapper’s staff requesting interviews:
* * * * * * * *
Tapper responded, saying he wouldn’t have allowed Hawley to come on the show if he had actually agreed to the interview and that he “only started explaining to [his staff] last month the reasons behind my saying no to every Big Liar”:

Rural Pennsylvanians are directly impacted by the massive cheating in Philadelphia. It's their Senatorial and Presidential votes that are being over shadowed by fraud. If Democrats are so sure they won, why do they fight so hard against any efforts to look at the actual votes?

Alhouse, "They failed in Washington. They failed all over the place. Between the impeachment hoax number one, impeachment hoax number two, all of these investigations, ah shit, we failed."
"Let’s send it to the radical left prosecutors in New York, maybe they can have more luck. They’ll never stop until November of 2024. They won’t stop. There’s no better example of the Democrat and media corruption than the 2020 election hoax. As you know, the evidence is too voluminous to even mention.... You look at what happened on that evening when the election was won and all of a sudden vast amounts of votes were taken in just in certain states, swing states. Swing states that I was leading by a lot. Then all of a sudden, oh, something happened. It was a disgrace to our country and if you think people don’t see it, people see it. People have seen it."

Said Trump, in his North Carolina speech last night. The "shit" surprised me.
