The Election Post - Virginia Running Hot

The Virginia gubernator election is almost upon us, and I can hardly wait to get back to Geico and Progressive insurance ads on TV. It's especially bad here because, while we don't get to vote, we're still in the splash zone for the media coverage. Stacy McCain feels the the same, Virginia, Brace Yourselves

The best way to react to this is to ignore it. Just go vote, and encourage your neighbors to do the same, and do your best to tune out the frantic chatter from the desperate Democrats. Read a book. Watch a movie. Do whatever it takes to calm your mind amid the campaign madness.
At They Daley Gator, in Virginia, the center of everything political………… Doug echoes that:
Solid advice my friends. I used to REALLY get into looking at polls, national averages of polls, etc. It only served to stress me out, and, did not one thing to change any results. In short, the stress IS NOT worth it.

From The Morning Rant at Aces,

This is very depressing. Because we're not going to win. And if we do win, we'll still lose.

The seeds of our defeat can be seen in the difference between how the Left and Right view politics. The Right wants to do politics and be done with it so they can get on with life, while the Left wants to do politics all the time.

Haut Hair cites Michelle Cottle at the NYT on Why the Virginia election is freaking Democrats out. Because they think they own the seat and it would bode ill for other elections to lose. So yesterday, AG Merrick Garland had his turn in the Senate barrel. As you can imagine things got testy with Replicans over the expected topics. At Ace's Morning Report JJ Sefton gave a good link/text summary:

"It's wrong, unprecedented in the history of this country, and I call on you to resign." Sen. Josh Hawley Tells Moloch Garland to Resign for "Weaponizing" DOJ Against Parents. "Here are the top four moments from Wednesday's hearing that make Garland's role in authorizing the DOJ to investigate parents for alleged violence and terrorism even clearer." Top Four Must-See Moments From The Senate Judiciary's Questioning of AG Moloch Garland, "Garland still cannot cite one specific example of violence or threat of violence: 'I said, again, at the time, that they were news reports that had been published. The Washington Post would never, ever suggest that prior consent makes a girl fair game for violent sexual assault -- but they make a special dispensation for Boys In Skirts now, I guess.
The Washington Post "journalist's"] tweet about the article generated a backlash online, with conservative comedian Tim Young wrote: "Oh look... the Washington Post victim blames teens who were raped now. Gov. Ron DeSantis' press secretary, Christina Pushaw, wrote: "So what you're saying is 'she asked for it'?"
This new detail may be why the AP claimed the sexual assault was "murky."

Newt Gingrich, on the Atlanta/Houston World Series, God Has a Sense of Humor – And Must Like Baseball
Remember when the woke left decided to punish all of Georgia for passing election reform? They forced Major League Baseball to move the All-Star Game out of Atlanta, which cost Georgia businesses an estimated $100 million in revenue. The hit was especially hard on Black owned small businesses, which were just recovering from the COVID-19 shutdowns. The power of the woke, Big Government Socialists is such that even Sen. Raphael Warnock favored moving the game and hurting his own constituents.

According to the leftwing Puritans, Georgia had been defined as an evil state. President Joe Biden lied consistently about the Georgia election law, and Democrats were overjoyed at the opportunity to smear Georgia (the state which produced civil rights icons such as Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Mayor Andrew Young, and Congressman John Lewis).

Possibly the only state which rivaled Georgia in incurring the loathing and fear of the rabid left was Texas. Its pro-gun, pro-life, low tax, secure borders, pro-work mentality assaulted virtually every sensitivity of the Big Government Socialists. From their Ivy League and West Coast bastions, they had always despised Texans on the general principle that Texans were not adequately sensitive and liberal.

What a wonderful irony that God decided to give the Big Government Socialists the spectacle of the Atlanta Braves playing the Houston Astros in the World Series.
