The General Election Post - NSBA Renegs on Letter to AG Garland

I have to at least change the name of this series, since it's evolved wandered off course a bit over the course of  time, and become more focused on the issues that will drive the next elections, although I won't ignore the questions that arise from the 2020 election.

First, regarding AG Merrick Garlands threat to investigate rowdy parents at school board meetings, via the Wombat's In The Mailbox: 10.22.21, LI informs us that the National School Board Assoc. Backs Down: “We Regret and Apologize For The Letter” To FBI Targeting Parent Protesters, saying they might have stepped way over the line by calling upset parents domestic terrorists. More at CTH from sundance: National School Board Association Apologizes for Letter Sent to DOJ Calling Concerned Parents Domestic Terrorists

How bad was Attorney General Merrick Garland’s testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday? It was so bad that 24 hours later the NSBA has openly retracted and apologized for the content of the letter that triggered AG Garland to activate the FBI.

Facing serious and unrelenting public backlash, and large numbers of Red State school boards dissolving their relationship with the national organization, the NSBA writes . . .

Remember, this is the letter the NSBA crafted in conjunction with the White House! Eric Lendrum at Am Great, Emails Confirm that NSBA Coordinated with White House on ‘Domestic Terrorism’ Letter. Ace, Emails Reveal that National School Board Association Colluded With White House To Draft That Letter Demanding the DOJ Treat Concerned Parents as "Domestic Terrorists"

New reporting suggests that the National School Board Association colluded with the Biden White House regarding their letter demanding that the FBI treat critics of leftwing schoolboards as potential domestic terrorists.

Chuck Ross with another huge scoop:
The country's largest school board association collaborated with the Biden White House before sending a controversial letter calling on the FBI to investigate parents as potential domestic terrorists, according to previously unreported emails.

The emails, obtained by Parents Defending Education through public records requests and reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon, reveal that the National School Board Association's president and CEO sent the letter to Biden on Sept. 29 without approval from the organization's board. The letter said that the acts of some parents at school board meetings across the country could be considered "a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes."

The emails also show that the White House asked the association for examples of threats against school board members days before Attorney General Merrick Garland created a task force of officials from the FBI and the Justice Department to determine how to prosecute alleged crimes at school board meetings.
In other words, the White House told them what to put into the letter so that they could then order Merrick Garland to investigate "domestic terrorism."
. . .
Remember, the National School Board Association specifically named Scott Smith -- the father of the sexually-violated girl -- in its list of "incidents" which they claim justified treating concerned parents as "domestic terrorists."

And Merrick Garland, vouched for by National Review's serial voucher Andy McCarthy, claims he just hasn't heard anything about this case.

Some rehashing of Merrick Garlands testimony on Jan. 6th. At RCP, Rep. NewNeo,  Garland confirms no on who participated in January 6th has been charged with insurrection Or rather, he sort of confirms it. . . .  Insty, MATT MARGOLIS: Merrick Garland Debunks Democrat ‘Insurrection’ Claims About Capitol Riot.
“Surely the Biden administration, with all its tough talk about holding the rioters accountable, could find someone to charge with insurrection, right? If they could, they certainly would have, and we all know it. Instead, they’ve been charged with other crimes related to their actions on that day. Just not insurrection. Why not? Because the riot wasn’t an insurrection. Attorney General Garland knows this. Congressional Democrats know this. Heck, the media probably knows it too.”
They do, but plenty of news sources — including the AP — continue to use “insurrection” in their “news” stories.
Regarding those incidents in Loudoun County. where a "transgender" "girl" raped high school girls in the girls bathrooms, cited in the NSBA letter, Fox reports Loudoun email reveals superintendent notified school board on day of alleged sexual assault "Superintendent Scott Ziegler's email contradicts his previous statement." John Sexton at Hot Hair, Email shows Loudoun County School Board knew about sexual assault the day it happened. Also from the Wombat's In The Mailbox: 10.22.21 Twitchy,  Chicken sh*t! Supt. But they lied about when asked by the father of the girl who'd been r4ped.

They must all be recalled.

And someone should start looking into the possibility of charging them for making false statements at a public hearing.

All of which is a good segue into the Virginia gubernatorial contest. Richmond Schools Give Teachers Full Week Off During Election to vote early and often.

On Wednesday night, schools in Richmond, Va., abruptly decided to close down the entire first week of November for employee “mental health.”

Teachers and students already were granted Election Day off, with Thursday a day off for “Diwali,” and Friday no school due to virtual parent/teacher conferences. Now Monday and Wednesday — the days before and after Election Day, Nov. 2 — also will see shuttered classrooms.

“After very careful consideration, I made this decision because I think it’s essential for our employees’ mental health,” Superintendent Jason Kamras wrote. “And because of their mental health, I worry about significant staff absences on November 1 and 3, which could make it very difficult for us to follow our COVID-19 distancing protocols, putting student and staff health in jeopardy. Teachers have been feeling just an incredible level of stress, anxiety, exhaustion. This is about trying to reduce as much of that as we can.”
