Can Algae Save the Bay?

And interesting article about using algae to clean up Bay water at Baltimore Harbor:  Clean Water And Clean Power Through Algae.

I have one question about the system. Where does the waste from the anaerobic digester go? When microbes break down the algae into methane, they also release the nutrients, which were the original target of the cleanup system, back into the digester. I hope they don't just dump it back into the bay! But putting it into another biologic nutrient treatment system, which are widely used around the Bay, seems kind of circular too.

And that power output, a "few hundred kilowatts"? The current production of electricity in the United States is about 350,000,000,000 kilowatts, (that's 350 terawatts, if you like those units better) so not even rounding error. Still, there's a lot more dirty water where that came from.
