Is what I told Skye when she started lobbying for a walk this morning. But, being a Siberian, she thought that was a feature, and not a bug, so we headed off on foot for the beach anyway. The harbor is well on the way to being frozen in. Only the mouth is clear of the 1 1/2 inch thick ice.
The shoreline of the bay is starting to pile up ice, as the tide strands slush along the shore, which freezes into ridges. A few more days like this and it will look like the arctic.
We're in the middle of the "Polar Vortex" affecting the most of the country right now. Temperatures went as low as 10 F last night, and reached a high of 23 F this afternoon, and while we expect a brief excursion about freezing tomorrow afternoon, it's right back to the ice box after that according to the forecasts.
Chessie?
