Russiagate: Steele Is At It Again

The Guardian, on this past Monday:
PM accused of cover-up over report on Russian meddling in UK politics
Boris Johnson was on Monday night accused of presiding over a cover-up after it emerged that No 10 refused to clear the publication of a potentially incendiary report examining Russian infiltration in British politics, including the Conservative party.
Fresh evidence has also emerged of attempts by the Kremlin to infiltrate the Conservatives by a senior Russian diplomat suspected of espionage, who spent five years in London cultivating leading Tories including Johnson himself.
It can now be revealed that Sergey Nalobin -- who once described the future prime minister as "our good friend"-- lives in a Moscow apartment block known as the "FSB house" because it houses so many employees from the Kremlin's main spy agency.
The committee’s report is based on analysis from Britain’s intelligence agencies, as well as third-party experts such as the former MI6 officer Christopher Steele, and is subject to a final clearance from Downing Street. .
So, here we have:

* A report partly compiled by Christopher Steele
* A "whistleblower"
* An attempt to claim that because this person knows this person and that person knows a Russian, the Russians have kompromat
* An attempt to claim that the Russians are in league with the party that's been opposing them for 100 years, and to claim that they're working against the party that's been promoting Soviet/Russian interests and in fact has frequently produced actual bona-fide Soviet agents.
* An attempt to weaponize this bullshit to swing an upcoming election

Wait wait wait wait wait -- I'm pretty sure I've seen some of this before.
Apparently Fusion GPS has a drawer full of fill-in-the-blank dossiers waiting for Christopher Steele to sign off on them as the "intelligence" expert.

Which would not be illegal, even if true (and it probably isn't) Roger's real crime was supporting Trump. The only reason the Mueller team didn't invite Bannon to an indictment was that he managed to keep his story straight.

From sundance at CTH, Benjamin Wittes ‘White-knights’ For Lisa Page…
Earlier today Lawfare founder Benjamin Wittes sent a curious tweet appearing to defend former DOJ lawyer Lisa Page; who was previously assigned to FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.   The tweet comes out of the blue; and there’s nothing currently in the public sphere or headlines about Ms. Page.   It seems rather odd:

My hunch is Ms. Page may have spoken honestly to Horowitz or Durham about her experience as part of the ‘small group’.  If accurate, and considering McCabe threw Page under the bus to protect himself against an internal investigation about his media leaks, Ms. Page’s current disposition may very well be adverse to the interests of the coup plotters.
And yet, Flynn was specifically charged with, and pleaded guilty to lying about the contents of his conversation with Kislyak. Judge Sullivan should throw out the case, and then order Strzok and McCabe charged with fabricating evidence.

These things take time and organization. They also signal that far-left radicals know that their internet past stinks. They're loaded with things that would discredit them if they were found out — things such as talk of violence, talk of Trump-hate, and crazy socialist dictator–worship. They want to portray themselves as Little Miss Muffets, so scrub-a-dub-dub...
But why, when you have Mark Zuckerberg covering for you? Facebook Removes News Reporting, Mention of Alleged ‘Whistleblower’s’ Identity (Breitbart). As Schiff conducts his cloistered interrogations of a variety of alleged "witnesses" who are not witnesses at all, Trump supporters are supposed to melt in fear of Trump's removal from office. All but one or two of these people were not privy to the phone conversation. Some have never once met or spoken to the President. They are just a string of people Schiff has conscripted who disagree with Trump's manner of conducting foreign policy without their considered expert advice. Schiff actually thinks that parading these men and women before his little intel committee in secret is going to convince someone, anyone, that Trump should be impeached. It is in fact convincing Americans that this entire process is not only unfair but an unconstitutional, a perversion of justice.
