Georgia having obligations elsewhere, I was "assigned" to take Skye down to the beach for the daily walk. It's a beautiful May day at the beach, about 60 F, with light winds. I met Joel and Red, and we set off.
There are lots of things in bloom. These are the black locust that we hacked on a couple of weeks ago to open the path. They have a pea-like flower (they are a legume), and a wonderful smell. Too bad I can't post that.
Lots of people on the beach today. A girl scout troop was out doing a beach pick up (Thank you very much) but there were several families out enjoying the sunshine and breezes.
Skye got lots of gratuitous hugs, and got to demonstrate her kissing skills.
The annual dredging of Flag Harbor has just begun. Every year, the sand moves around the jetty from the north and forms a small shoal at the mouth, with a maximum depth of around 4-5 at low tide. This is shallow enough that some sailboats get stuck on on it, and either need a tow, or wait out the high tide. The harbor mouth gets dredged annually as a result, but by the end of winter every year, the shoal is back.
I also tried to get a video of an Osprey diving, but he wouldn't co-operate...
