Election 2020: A Miscarriage of Justice?

Lots of material related to the Capitol incursion. From WaPoo, Justice Dept. prepares to engage in plea talks with many Capitol riot defendants

The planned plea talks follow efforts by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, which is overseeing the prosecutions, to first create a system for efficiently organizing what they expect will be upward of 400 criminal cases and the growing pile of associated evidence, these people said. Like others, they spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

“We hope to start extending plea offers within the next week or so,” said one person familiar with the investigation.

Which will no doubt be a comfort to woman who miscarried after a guns drawn assault on their house by FBI agents. Gateway,  Wife Suffers Miscarriage Day After FBI Raids Home Over Combat Veteran Husband’s Presence at US Capitol

The wife of a decorated combat veteran who was inside the Capitol suffered a miscarriage one day after the FBI raided their home.

Christopher Kuehne maintains that he had traveled to the Capitol to protect Trump-supporting civilians from Antifa. Inside the Capitol, he was seen on video cleaning up trash before, he says, he helped to clear people out so police could get control of the situation.

“The FBI instructed Chris to come outside immediately. Our 4-year-old was awakened from the chaos. I picked him up and ran downstairs to open the front door. Our house was completely surrounded by armed FBI and law enforcement, armored tactical vehicles, and police vehicles that extended throughout the community. For a second, I didn’t realize that there were about twenty FBI SWAT Team members with semi-automatic rifles pointed at my son and I because I was distracted by the bright red lasers pointed at our faces, chests, and various points on my 4-year-old son and I,” Annette wrote in a statement provided to the Gateway Pundit.

Her husband was released later that day, the afternoon after the raid, and the case was transferred to Washington, DC. He is charged with Conspiracy; Obstruction of an Official Proceeding and Aiding and Abetting; Obstruction of Law Enforcement During Civil Disorder and Aiding and Abetting; Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds and Carrying a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon; Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds and Carrying a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon.

Kuehne is a retired decorated combat veteran who has received numerous medals and awards including the Purple Heart, a Navy Commendation Medal with Valor, and a Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal with Valor for actions in combat. He served this country in the United States military for over twenty years. He was even awarded a rare Medal of Merit from the Boy Scouts of America for his actions involving scouting skills and ideals for saving his youngest sister’s life from the burning car she was in when he was 9 years old.

Is the new administration pursing sedition charges? The article says the decision about that has "languished" because of the Senate confirmation process. The new Attorney General, Merrick B. Garland, was sworn in on March 11th. The NYT observes that "The Justice Department has rarely brought charges of sedition, the crime of conspiring to overthrow the government, and has not successfully prosecuted such a case in more than 20 years."

On a scale of 1 to 10 where a “1” is a solid, well done presentation, and a “10” is an intellectually sloppy, ham-fisted, neo-zampolit led struggle session, I will give this a 6 … edging towards a 7.

It's not a fact until I can see the proof. Until then it remains a reasonable hypothesis. Capt. “Reasonable people understand that the “language of the political arena, like the language used in labor disputes… is often vituperative, abusive and inexact,” court documents for Powell read. “It is likewise a ‘well recognized principle that political statements are inherently prone to exaggeration and hyperbole.'”

So what rationale can they cite in this case? Election fraud? Nope. As per the Democrats, that doesn’t exist. Flaws in the certification process? Nope. As I already mentioned, Rita Hart didn’t even challenge it in court. She simply went straight to the speaker and asked Pelosi to declare her the winner after the results had been certified. What else is left? That the election was “too close?” Now we’re just being silly.

Yes, the election was beyond the point of simply calling it “close.” But probability and statistics tell us that sometimes that happens. We’ve had elections in the past that had to be decided by drawing cards or flipping coins. Simply wishing that there had been a more decisive winner does not provide a rationale for the action being considered. Removing Miller-Meeks just because she can is the sort of thing we expect to see in Venezuela when things aren’t going Nicolas Maduro’s way.

And what does Pelosi really gain if she manages to pull this off? She would expand her majority by a single vote. Instead of a 219-211 margin, she would have 220-210. If there are any truly contentious bills coming to the floor where she’s in danger of losing members of her own caucus, how often will the vote really be close enough for that to matter? Probably never. Most of the time, if the whip count looks that close, the majority will pull the bill until they can shore up their prospects.

In other words, if she decides to pull the trigger, Nancy Pelosi will be doing this for no other reason than to “own the cons.” And she will have to answer for that sort of dictatorial maneuver, even when speaking to the most Democrat-friendly media outlets in the country. Good luck with that.
