George Zimmerman has been involved in another shooting incident — and this time he’s on the receiving end.

Update: Authorities originally told CNN affiliate WESH that Zimmerman was shot in the face, causing an immediate social media storm. Updated reports from CNN say Zimmerman was injured with debris from the window that was hit by a bullet.

The man who caused national protests and riots after he shot and killed Trayvon Martin and was subsequently acquitted of murder charges found himself on the receiving end of a bullet to the face Monday.

The shooting took place around 12:45 p.m. in Lake Mary, Fla., when police say Zimmerman was shot in the face after a confrontation with another driver, WESH-TV reported. Authorities say his injuries appear to be minor.

“He walked normally into the ambulance, so he wasn’t being helped or nothing,” witness Ricardo Berrare told WESH. “They actually backed up the ambulance next to his driver side so he could walk into the door.”

George Zimmerman was just shot in a road rage incident. I guess the other guy felt threatened and stood his ground? Oh, the irony.

Of course, stand your ground was never an issue in the Trayvon shooting.
