Rant in Red Redux, FBI searched Barron's Room. DOJ Sets Sights on Obstruction Charge

A lot more reviews of Preznit Biden's "Rant in Red." Stacy McCain on The Symbolism of Philadelphia, "The symbolism of choosing Philadelphia as the site of last week’s speech was perhaps more fitting than Biden realized, because Philadelphia is a city that Democrats have absolutely ruined. The per-capita murder rate in Philadelphia is higher than Chicago’s. Now notorious as “Killadelphia,” the city’s population has declined by about 400,000 people since 1960." At Da Wire, Joe Rogan Slams Blood-Red, Dark Background Of Biden’s Speech, “Imagine thinking this was a good idea.” Kevin McCollough at Town Hall details Why Benito Going Bonkers Backfired, "Biden became historical on Thursday night. He’s the least serious person to have ever held the office. He is arguably the worst the position has ever seen. His team is desperate and out of options." Althouse finds "With Trump frequently in the news, Democrats are increasingly accepting — if not enthusiastic — that the president will likely be their 2024 standard-bearer." "So says this Washington Post column by Yasmeen Abutaleb. How does she know what "Democrats are increasingly accepting" and that it's a consequence of Trump's frequent presence in the news? Is keeping Trump in the news a way to assist Biden in deterring a primary challenger?" Also "Our country’s going to hell. Our country is going to hell," said Donald Trump in his 2-hour Wilkes-Barre speech. "I found a transcript. So let's see if I can find some things to quote. . . " and "Historians advise the president. Nicholas Ballasy at JTN, Democrats duck debates with pro-Trump opponents scorned as weak general election candidates "Candidates in swing states including Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Michigan are shying away from debating opponents who had been dismissed as tainted by association with former president or lacking crossover appeal." "He comes in with a sweatsuit on. I've never seen him wear a suit. A dirty, dirty, dirty sweatsuit, it's really disgusting." True. Brain surgeon or brain-damaged? Their choice. Jaz z Shaw at Haut Hair cites Tim Michels: Break out the pitchforks and torches "Wisconsin business tycoon Tim Michels is running for governor against Democratic incumbent Tony Evers and the race is getting a bit spicey (sic), to put it mildly." Via Power Line, Haut Hair already has a candidate for Campaign ad of the year? Oofdah!

Vicky Marshall at Da Fed says Democrats Are The Real Threat To Democracy — Just Ask The Green Party "After the Green Party submitted thousands of signatures for its candidate to appear on the ballot in North Carolina, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) — represented by Russia Hoax lawyer Marc Elias’s law firm — began contacting the people who signed the petition for ballot access and asked them to remove their signatures." Lee Smith at The Tablet, on Why Did the FBI Raid Mar-a-Lago? "Trump’s ‘stash of nuclear secrets’ is this summer’s Kremlin collusion conspiracy. But the latest chapter of Russiagate may end with a bang."
The Mar-a-Lago raid feels like Russiagate because, well, it is Russiagate: a conspiracy theory weaponized by the country’s courtier class to serve the interests of a delirious and deracinated oligarchy, spawning daily prophesies of doom fed by an endless supply of national security “leaks” asserting that the former commander-in-chief really was and is a secret Russian agent. And proof of the president’s treachery, chant the priestly keepers of the “collusion” mysteries, will soon be revealed to the public. It is their blanket justification for every past crime and every new banana republic-style abuse of power, accompanied by a drumbeat of ever more outlandish and violent threats.

It is in this context that the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago should be understood: Government records and reports from political and media operatives and bureaucrats who previously starred in Russiagate I give evidence that the FBI raided Trump’s home to seize documents exposing the crimes that the FBI and Justice Department have been committing since 2016. The fact that Russiagate shows no signs of ending anytime soon is bad news for the republic, betrayed from within by a performative elite whose ability to project power outside its gilded bubble requires a steady supply of paranoia, fear, and hysteria.

At Reason, It's (Almost) Always the Feds: How the FBI Fabricates Schemes To Entrap Would-Be Radicals "Here's a tip: If you have some radical political views and an acquaintance reaches out, encourages you to act on your convictions, and maybe offers to introduce you to a guy who can sell you some bomb parts, don't take him up on it. That guy's almost definitely working for the feds."

Proof Althouse read NYPO, "Timothy Thibault, the FBI agent alleged to have interfered with an investigation into Hunter Biden, was assigned by the Washington Field Office as 'point man' to manage whistleblower Tony Bobulinski..."

"... the first son’s former business partner, before the 2020 election — but he suppressed his damning revelations, sources say. Bobulinski spent over five hours secretly being interviewed by the FBI on Oct. 23, 2020, about his inside knowledge of then-presidential candidate Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s business deals with China. The previous day he had revealed in a press conference that Joe Biden was the 'Big Guy' due to get a 10% cut of a lucrative joint venture with Chinese energy firm CEFC, according to an email found on Hunter’s abandoned laptop. Bobulinski gave the FBI the contents of three cellphones containing encrypted messages between Hunter and his business partners, along with emails and financial documents detailing the Biden family’s corrupt influence peddling operation in foreign countries during Joe’s vice presidency. But his evidence appears to have fallen into the same black hole at the FBI as Hunter’s laptop, never to be seen again...."

an obstruction charge against Trump would be prosecuted in the shadow of Hillary Clinton’s case. In addition to the transfer of top-secret and other classified documents to her private server, Clinton and her staff did not fully cooperate with investigators. During the investigations of her conduct, some of us marveled at the temerity of the Clinton staff in refusing to turn over her laptop and other evidence to State Department and DOJ investigators. The FBI had to cut deals with her aides to secure their cooperation.

Later, more classified material was found on the laptop of former congressman Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), who was married to top Clinton aide Huma Abedin — 49,000 emails potentially relevant to the Clinton investigation.

After Congress sought these emails, Clinton’s staff unilaterally destroyed thousands of emails with BleachBit. Clinton was aware that Congress and the State Department were seeking the emails in 2014. Her lawyers turned over about 30,000 work-related emails to the State Department and deleted 33,000 others while insisting they unilaterally deemed them “personal.”

Garland may be able to make a case against Trump and show that it is indeed distinguishable from the Clinton case and others. What has been alleged is undeniably serious, including the alleged failure to comply with an earlier subpoena and false statements. However, Garland must address the legitimate concerns of millions of Americans that the same office involved in past Trump investigations — with documented instances of false or misleading statements — is leading this new effort. There also is the great concern over the Biden administration charging a prior and possibly future political opponent.
