ABC News Judge denies DOJ request for stay in investigation of Trump's Mar-a-Lago docs, "The judge also appointed Raymond Dearie as special master."
U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon on Thursday denied the Department of Justice's request for a partial stay of her ruling that limited the government's investigation of how Donald Trump handled sensitive material at his Mar-a-Lago estate, pending a third-party review of what agents found at Trump's home.
Cannon, in issuing her order, said that she was not willing to accept the government's assertions that roughly 100 documents taken from Mar-a-Lago were classified -- even though they were labeled as such, with some bearing "SECRET" and "TOP SECRET/SCI" markings.
Cannon appointed Raymond Dearie, senior district judge for the Eastern District of New York, as special master to help her resolve the matter. (Earlier this week, the DOJ wrote in court papers that it did not object to to Dearie, who was suggested by Trump's legal team.)
"The Court does not find it appropriate to accept the Government’s conclusions on these important and disputed issues without further review by a neutral third party in an expedited and orderly fashion," Cannon wrote in her order.
Sundance, Judge Cannon Rejects DOJ Motion for Stay, Appoints Special Master Judge Raymond J Dearie
Judge Cannon urged Special Master Raymond Dearie to complete his review by Nov. 30, 2022, more than a month longer than DOJ requested. However, she did say Trump’s legal team has to pay the full cost of the special master. [Full Ruling Pdf Here] In a signed filing, Judge Dearie accepted the task.
WaPoo whines about the Special master named to examine documents seized from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property, " The decision could significantly slow a high-profile investigation of the former president, one that prosecutors say has already been paused at a key juncture by the judge’s skepticism that the Justice Department has treated Trump fairly."
When the four names were floated (2 by the DOJ and 2 by Trump's team), Dearie seemed the logical choice to me, since he was a former FISA judge, and should be permitted to see any and all of the allegedly classified documents. In that role, he has also been the "victim" of DOJ/FBI lies, and shaded truths, as he signed off on the Carter Page FISA warrants at least once. I hope that made him skeptical of taking their claims at face value.
Lincoln Brown at PJ Media reports Mike Lindell Is Suing the FBI and the Government for Violating His Rights. Pay Attention.
Lindell noted that he had already turned over his phone records during the Dominion lawsuit. And to be honest, the FBI could have easily accessed all of his phone and internet records, particularly under Merrick Garland.
I’ve never watched Lindell.TV, and I’ve never been a huge Lindell fan, although we did buy a pair of My Pillows. They’re okay. A little too fluffy for me. We bought one of his dog beds, and the dog chewed it up. But that’s beside the point. Lindell, even if leftists and a few people on the right disparage him, makes a valid observation about the infringement of his rights. This was more than gathering evidence under a warrant. This was meant to intimidate him. And by extension, everyone else. Including you and including me.

Well I suppose he is dangerous to the Biden Administration in the sense that despite the loss of millions in business by places like Bed Bath and Beyond (now folding like a cheap suit) ridicule and attacks he steadfastly refuses to compromise on his opinion (which I share) that the last election was stolen and continues to produce evidence to support said claim." The key people overseeing the safety of the Capitol building before and on January 6 were radical Democrats or their appointees: D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser and her appointees MPD Chief Robert Contee and DHS Coordinator Chris Rodriguez; House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (this position includes responsibilities of mayor of the Capitol, if there were one), Senator Amy Klobuchar, and Representative Zoe Lofgren. Nancy Pelosi had had overall responsibility for the Capitol police since January 2018.

Two journalists surface today with two different aspects to the same big picture story. At Da Caller, ‘Stochastic Terrorism’ Is The Newest Way The Left Plans To Censor Dissent and I even found a definition (sort of) of it, “Stochastic terrorism is the use of mass communications to stir up random lone wolves to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable.” In other words, just shut up, because complaining might cause a radical few to do something bad.
“The charge of ‘stochastic terrorism’ might as well be called the butterfly theory of terrorism: a butterfly flaps its wings in Shanghai, and through a long, complex chain of events, a terrorist detonates a bomb in Beirut. The butterfly, then, is a cause of the bomb exploding. This is silly.”
