Can the Redskins Maroon the Buccaneers?

The 2-4 Washington Redskins take on the 2-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The game just started, with the Buccaneers having first possession. And they have a touchdown on a Winston 40 yd pass to Evans at about 11:30 in the first quarter. Kick is good. 7-0 Buccaneers.

I looked for any new news on the Redskins name controversy, and couldn't find any. Apparently the SJWs have at least temporarily moved on.

The Redskins doesn't get anywhere to speak of in their drive and punt.

Murphy catches a pass and puts the Buccaneers in Redskins territory.

And with 5 minutes left in the quarter, the Buccanners make it to the 4 yard line and settle for a field goal. 10-0 Buccaneers.

The Redskins drive goes nowhere (again), and they are forced to punt. Ugllllly.

Tampa Bay continues to drive down the field, and are now on the Redskins 19 yardline at the end of the first quarter.

Buccaneers get a 15 yard personal foul penalty after the whistle on the first play of the 2nd quarter.

Another Buccanneer touchdown on a pass to Donteea Dye with 11:30 left in the half. Kick is good. 17-0 Buccaneers.

Woohoo! Garçon catches a pass across midfield.

Then Cousins get sacked Buccaneer's Howard Jones recovers and scores a touchdown.  Kick is good. 24-0 Buccaneers.

Redskins manage to cross the 50 yard mark thanks to a penalty, but they actually appear to be moving the ball a little.

Redskins down to the 8th yard line on a pass to Grant.

Redskins score on a run by Cousins. Kick is good. 24-7 Tampa Bay. Whew, at least they're on the board.

The Redskins actually stop the Buccaneers on their first set of downs, and recover the kick at the 33 yard mark, with less than 3 minutes left in the half. And make a first down on the next play. Maybe they woke up.




Redskins across to midline with a minute thirty left. They get a penalty and are forced to punt. So much for that.

End of the first half, Buccaneers still lead 24-7.

Redskins kickoff goes through the endzone.

Buccanneers get a first down on the first play. Catch is challanged. Challanged uphelp. But the Buccaneers make it on the next play. Sigh.

3d and nine. Buccaneers false start. On the next play, Buccaneers fumble and recover, Buccaneers commit personal foul, have to punt, and Redskins recover on their own 40.

Redskins down to the 20 on a pass, a personal foul put them on the 10ish. Another penalty puts them on the 5.

Redskins score on a pass to Grant. Kick is good. 24-14 Buccaneers. 11 minutes left.

Redskins try an onside kick, and succeed?  I am impressed.

Redskins get 1st down on past the 10!

False start, back to the 14.

Buccaneers holding. Back to the 9 yard line and first down Redskins. Reed down to the 3.

Redskins touchdown pass to Reed. Kick is good, 24-21 Buccaneers. 7 minutes left in the third quarter.

43 yard run by Simms reversed on a holding penalty.

Buccanners still moving, first down at the 35.

Winston passes to endzone. Pass interference, offense. Ooops. 2nd down and 17 from the 31. Winston sacked. End of the third quarter.

Stopped on the next play, 45 yard field goal attempt. Good. 27-21, Buccaneers.

Redskins from the 20.

First play, first down + 15 yards on a personal foul.

Redskins continue to make 1st downs. Garçon to the 23 yard line.

They lose one, then delay of game, back to the 29. Needed 14 made 10.  35 yard field goal, good. 27-24 Buccaneers.

Buccaneers commit holding on the kickoff and runback, and end up at the 6. 7 minutes left, more or less.


Buccanners first down at the 25.

Buccaneer's first down at the 45, then a pass to James for 49 yards. First and goal. Four minutes left.

2nd down with less than 2 to score. Ughh.

4th and 7. Buccaneers send out the field goal unit. 30 - 24 Buccaneers. At least the Redskins have made a game out of this one. 2:24 left.

Redskins make two consecutive first downs, now into Buccaneer territory.

Cousins touchdown pass to Reed, tie game with 24 seconds. Kick is good. Redskins 31-30!

Buccaneers from the 20 with 24 seconds. . .12 seconds . . .
Buccaneers fumble, Redskins recover with 5 seconds. Washington Redskins maroon the Buccaneers!
