Taylor Swift got paid $2.5 MILLION to perform at a hoedown in Canada ... but when the show got canceled, Taylor kept the money ... this according to a new lawsuit obtained by TMZ.Yeah? Music producers unreliable, what else is news, and why should that matter?
Long story short ... Swift was supposed to headline a huge country music concert in Ottawa in August 2012 called the Capital Hoedown.
Problem is ... the promoters couldn't get their act together, and to the dismay of the Canadian country music community, the hoedown was 86'd.
According to a new lawsuit filed in federal court in New York, Swift got all of her cash up front ... and the ticket company, which had to refund $1.8 million in tickets, thinks she should foot the bill ... since she never actually did anything. In fact, even if TS were to pay, she would still walk with $700k in profit.I presume that doesn't calculate her lost opportunity costs. Maybe she passed up engagements offered later that could have netted her far more.
But Taylor's rep tells TMZ the singer NEVER made a deal with the ticket company -- and has not yet seen the lawsuit ... which means she's not exactly rushing to fork over a $1.8 million check. So they gave her 2.5 million without a contract? Who's the kid here?
In related news, they have hoedowns in Canada?!?!?
And of course they have hoedowns in Canada. Canada is just a thin scum of impurities floating on the top of the United States melting pot, kind of like the things that attach wheel weights to tires, when you melt the wheel weights down to make bullets.
And in even more Taylor Swift news (and also from the same "Live at 5") comes word that 18 year old Harry Styles is not disconsolate after breaking up with the cradle robbing 23 year old Swift (maybe she should change her last name to Fast).
I really only include this article so I have an excuse to post more Taylor
Unlike Taylor Swift, Harry Styles isn't trying to publicly embarrass his ex. While promoting One Direction's No. 1 charity single, "One Way or Another," during a radio interview with London's Capital FM Feb. 17, the pop star spoke about what life has been like since his January breakup with the country superstar. Now maybe he'll find someone closer to his own age, settle down, and produce his own boy band.
"I'm okay, thank you for asking," Styles said when asked about his split with Swift, 23. "I'm good."
The 18-year-old then discussed how he felt about Swift's dig at him during the 55th Annual Grammy Awards; the country singer used a British accent during her performance of "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."She was just imitating Piers Morgan, honest.
"She's a great performer and she always performs great," Styles said diplomatically. "She's always good on the stage. She's been doing it a long time. She knows what she's doing on stage. It was just another good Taylor Swift performance. It was good."Hey, you ain't anybody in his business until you've been dumped, and publicly called out in song by Taylor.
Styles added that he doesn't mind the extra attention surrounding their breakup. "I understand why people would wanna know stuff like that, I get it. If someone does stuff like that then I wanna know about it, too," he said. "I guess it just kind of. . . It is what it is, I guess."Isn't she getting a little long in the tooth for teenage angst songs?
