As I said earlier, it's warm, slightly muggy and overcast today, with rare and utterly worthless light showers. Wind was 15 from the west when we walked, which is totally sheltered on the beach, and barely ruffles the water.
Fossil hunting was challenging, not because of the weather, but because of a dearth of shell hash on the beach. Every day is different. None the less, I lucked into this pretty good Snaggletooth Shark lower, which I assumed would be the best of the day. . .
Until I found this short, peg like crocodile tooth. Yes, a few million years ago, the Chesapeake Bay (really part of the Atlantic Ocean at that point) had crocodiles. Not our best croc tooth ever, but the best this year so far.
While our beach was nearly empty, Matoaka Cottage seemed to be doing big business today.
The Osprey checks out the shallow water, but doesn't dive.
Nope. No teeth here.
Two big one prepare to pass in the channel. Even though it looks like an imminent collision, there's probably a half mile or more separating them.
