Greg Myerson has caught a monster striped bass in waters of Long Island Sound just off Westbrook, Connecticut that might just be an IGFA all tackle world record. Greg's striped bass tipped the scales at 81.88 pounds. That put it more than three pounds heavier than the then current record holder of a 78.5 lb. striped bass caught in 1982 by

Damn, that's a big fish. There have been a lot of rumors of much larger fish (up to and over 100 lbs) caught in pound nets in Chesapeake Bay over the years. Apparently, stripers get smarter as they get older and less likely to be caught on hook and line.
