American Sets New Surfing Record

Not Internet, Hawaiian surfs 90 ft wave (in Portugal):

An American has set a new world record after riding a 90-foot (more than 27 metres) wave in Portugal.

The wave, off Nazare Beach in Praia do Norte, was ridden in perfect conditions by Hawaii’s Garrett McNamara.

"Everything was perfect, the weather, the waves. Cotty and I surfed two big waves of about 60 feet and then, when Garrett was ready came a canyon wave of over 90 feet. The jet ski was the best place to see him riding the biggest wave I've ever seen. It was amazing," Al Mennie, who towed Garrett onto the wave, told Surfertoday.com.

"Most people would be scared, but Garrett was controling everything in the critical part of the wave. It was an inspiring ride by an inspiring surfer," he said.
A magnificent form of insanity.
