After lunch, Skye and I decided to brave the beach. The remnants of Hurricane Ian (down below tropical depression levels) is a couple hundred miles to the southwest, on the North Carolina/Virginia border and it has been giving rain and wind since sometime yesterday. I picked a time that the radar suggested not much chance of rain and it worked out.
Even the dead low tide was slightly higher that the predicted astronomical high tide for the day. The high tides had clearly lapped against the base of dunes. We couldn't get very far up the beach; we stopped near Matoaka Cottages. The beach was mostly sand, but in a few gravely spots I managed to eke out 4 smallish shark's teeth and a stingray barb.
