Even Ace goes off on a tangent here, talking about how pistol rounds differ slightly in design between revolver and semi-auto. The guns Stephen Paddock used in Las Vegas were rifles (except for the pistol he used to kill himself). Rounds like the .308, 30-06, 5.56 NATO etc, can all be fired from single shot, bolt action, semi-automatic, or even in some cases fully automatic weapons. The round does nothing to determine whether the rifle is automatic or not. The feeding mechanism of the rifle determines that.
