According to the intertubes, Summer of 2014 starts with the summer solstice, at 6:51 EDT, so I'm jumping the gun just a hair.
After some rain overnight, we had a cool (73 F), cloudy day for the opening day of our hot season. I'll take it!
Otherwise, it was a pretty unremarkable walk. The Bay was stirred up and dirty from an east wind, and teeth were hard to find, although we managed 13, mostly in one spot where a stream created a nice flat area with a sprinkling of shell hash (and teeth).
Also, a new (for the year) butterfly in the sand dunes, this Common Buckeye (Junonia coenia). I think it's one of our most attractive butterflies, although subtler than some.
