Mar-a-Lago Warrant Released

Ed at Haut Hair VIP, Trump blasts Garland: Release all warrant documents from "this unprecedented political weaponization of law enforcement." After, Paula Bolyard at PJ Media,  Search Warrant and Property Receipt From Mar-a-Lago Raid Released. As expected, mostly a simple list of boxes, with comments on contents (eg. Sundance at CTH, Motive Clear, DOJ Search Warrant Was to Seize Every Single Document During Entirety of President Trump Term in Office, Regardless of Classification, basically a license to search everywhere. This is odd because the ex-President, by law, retains a security clearance, and a government funded "office of the ex-President", which in Trump's case is at Mar-a-Lago. It enables him to keep some records for historical purposes. I can't see any of this holding up in court (except, of course in DC where anything anti-Trump will hold up. Real America's Voice (RAV)@RealAmVoice, "“The cameras were only off for a very short period of time.” @christina_bobb, says that while staff initially complied w/ the FBI request to turn off the CCTV cameras in Mar-a-Lago, President Trump’s lawyers stepped in and the cameras were turned back on." At Politico, Chuck Rosenberg decries The ‘Planted Evidence’ Lie, "FBI Director Chris Wray made a big mistake when he didn’t counter the latest pro-Trump attack on his agents." Wray is in a tough spot there, given the FBI's established history of embellishing evidence against Trump.

At Fox, FBI seized classified records from Mar-a-Lago during search of Trump residence, "Trump says all records were 'declassified' and that the FBI 'didn't need to seize anything'" WaEx, FBI found several classified documents in Trump Mar-a-Lago raid. Again, Trump claims (and Kash Patel backs him up) that he declassified all the material sent to Mar-a-Lago before the inauguration. It will make for a fun court case if nothing else. 'Bonchie' at Red State, LEAKED: Items Taken in Trump Raid Revealed

The irony here is so thick you can cut it with a knife. According to the DOJ and the liberal press, these documents were so super-secret and important that they justified raiding a former president’s home with dozens of armed agents. Yet, they are apparently just fine to show off to journalists knowing the details will be published for all the world to see.

Further, the FBI went through all this trouble, breaking precedent, in order to retrieve only 11 pieces of classified information. That’s less than what Hillary Clinton had on her illegal bathroom server, including special access materials, and she was never raided.

Other than that, the rest of the stuff taken appears to have been Trump’s personal effects. Letters that were written him. Notes he and his staff wrote. Visitors lists and the like. Nothing that would come close to providing justification for raiding his home. None of this adds up because it’s not meant to add up.

That said, as we’ve seen with previous investigations of Trump, public opinion is split starkly along partisan lines, and Americans generally remain leery of taking action against him."

Mike Davis, a former law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, took an ax to the crux of the legal arguments justifying the raid. And this isn’t some new interpretation; the Supreme Court affirmed it in 1987. Davis listed numerous occasions where the president acted in this capacity regarding classified materials, some of which we even saw in real-time. Remember when Barack Obama told then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he would have more flexibility to negotiate with Moscow after the 2012 election? That’s a classified conversation but not an Espionage Act violation because Obama was the president.

The judge said he was troubled by Robertson's conduct since his arrest — not only his stockpiling of guns but also his words advocating for violence. After Jan. 6, Robertson told a friend that he was prepared to fight and die in a civil war and he clung to baseless conspiracy theories that the 2020 election was stolen from then-President Donald Trump, the judge noted.

When in a hole, stop digging. On the other hand, it's not for the judge to judge whether the 2020 election was stolen.

  1. Ever worked with highly classified materials? I have.
The search was duly executed and signed off by the Attorney General. In addition, Trump had been asked montrhs ago for those materials to be returned to the national archives. He refused. Finally gave half of the material back. But kept the remaining 12 or so boxes. All that was taken was listed and made public though of course the secretive materials were not described. Trump then claimed many people take work home for work. Nope. He was no longer working at that job as president. Then he claimed that he had automatically declassified all taken materials. Wrong. There is a process fo andr this and it was not taken. Then he stated that Obama had taken lots of classified materials away with him . Lie. Every classified and unclassified item that was part of Obama's presidency was turned over to the Natrional Archives.
