...the great east coast quake of 2011. I was walking down a laboratory hall when the shaking started. Since we had construction going on close by, I thought maybe the crew had swung a backhoe shovel into the building by mistake. A quick check showed that was wrong and that every building nearby had been shaken, too.
There were a few objects knocked off shelves, and some rust and dirt shaken out of a hood into some clean flasks that waiting for use, and will need to be re-cleaned first, but otherwise not affected. It did postpone a conference call for a half hour.
It's one of the biggest quakes I've ever experienced (and I grew up in Southern California).
UPDATE: Fucking amazing...
