Beach Report, Sept. 2, 2012

And yet another warm, cloudy, muggy, breezeless day at the beach.  We had a strong thunderstorm late last night, and I had hoped it might bring some crisper weather with it, but alas, today was a carbon copy of yesterday.  Still not too bad, though.  But not very photogenic.
Red acting lab like.  Funny thing about dogs.  Breeds matter.  Red, the Labrador Retriever likes to swim, but Skye, the Siberian Shepherd will only wade chest deep.  She can swim, we know that, but I guess a sled dog figures if you have to swim, you're in a lot of trouble.
I've never seen so many Great Blue Herons as we saw today.  We even saw a couple of them fighting over favorite fishing spots.
Look close (or click to expand the picture), and you'll see a flock of geese (presumably Canada's) crossing the sky in one of their ragged Vees.  It seems early for migratory geese to be coming down from Canada, so maybe their just residents looking for a new golf course.
Skye, in the lower right, fixes her aim on a couple of women walking on the beach.  Success! She got a complement, a pet or two, and a treat out of it.
Probability of Sea Nettles still 100%.  But the density seems to have diminished considerably. While there were a few washed up on the beach, I didn't seen any in the water.  It's probably safe to take a dip, if you keep a look out.
