As Spring springs here, the butterflies are coming out fast. Today we had our first sightings of two favorites, first the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail:
This male (from the lack of blue on the rear wings) came to the phlox. It seems that's the first place we spot them every year.
Then, a few minutes later in the back yard, a Zebra Swallowtail:
What, you don't see it, flitting through in this unzoomed photo? Try this:
Yeah, you can barely tell what it is, if you know what you're looking for. Well, there's plenty of time to get more pictures.
In addition to these, I also spotted one new, to me, butterfly, the Eastern Pine Elfin, but I wasn't carrying the camera, and spotted a somewhat ragged looking Red Admiral a couple days ago.
