You may have heard, but FINALLY: McCarthy Becomes Speaker (Stacy McCain), exploring Rolling Stone's claim that the long battle was fueled in part by Matt Gaetz' hatred for McCarthy over lack of support on the debunked sex trafficking investigation. "So says Rolling Stone, anyway, and while I’m skeptical that this left-wing publication has informed sources inside the GOP caucus, at the same time I don’t like Republican sex scandals. Republicans should be the party of boring middle-class married life. Let the Democrats have a monopoly on sex scandals. It’s an American tradition." Or maybe they just wanted to go to bed. "It was reminiscent of the scene in True Grit when John Wayne stops Glenn Campbell from spanking Kim Darby — not because she didn’t deserve it but because “you are enjoying it too much.”" Althouse read Rolling Stone too, "Kevin McCarthy was well aware he was going to lose his bid to become Speaker of the House of Representatives on the first ballot, three people with knowledge of the situation told Rolling Stone." "What he was not privately predicting was that the beatings would continue for an entire week. 'He knew he was going to get fucked — he just didn’t know they were going to fuck him this many times, or this hard,' explained one congressional aide." Bob Hoge at Red State thinks McCarthy Wins the 15-Round Bout, but Matt Gaetz Is the Real Winner.

Sometimes, mostly even, and OK sign is just an OK sign.Insty, YESTERDAY WAS A VERY IMPORTANT ANNIVERSARY, JIM TREACHER WRITES:
January 6 is a day that will live in infamy. On this date, a brutal crime was committed. A miscarriage of justice. A blot on our nation’s history.
That’s right, I’m talking about this ->
Sarah Hoyt, JANUARY 6TH
However, there is nothing happy about Jan 6th. Not the two innocents butchered for no reason except they needed bodies as far as I can tell, not the setup to give themselves a reason to go after ideological dissenters, not the sad spectacle of grandma’s indicted for “parading” which is apparently now a crime in America, nor the people they still hold in jail, because why not, they have China envy and dream of making protesters disappear.
The only thing I can say is that what January 6 has done is given us a gauge for “Don’t do this. Nothing good will come of it, and there’s a good chance there will be a setup to get us in trouble.”
Sarah Arnold at Town Hall hears Kristi Noem Speak Out After Federal Agencies Leak Her Social Security Number "We expect a detailed response addressing how the breach of privacy occurred, who was responsible, what steps breach of you has taken to remedy the breach, and what specific measures and remedies will be taken to protect Gov. Harold Hutchinson at Da Caller reports White House Pressed Facebook To Censor Tucker Carlson, Document Reveals. Time to sue the bejesus out of both Facebook and the government people trying to censor us. To wit, Paul Sperry explains How Democrat Adam Schiff abused his power to demand I be kicked off Twitter simply due to a personal vendetta, as part of his Russiagate lies. Jazz Shaw at Haut Hare, How Adam Schiff got Twitter to censor a journalist. Jonathon Turley is shocked, shocked,“We Don’t Do This”: Adam Schiff and the Underbelly of American Censorship.
Schiff’s actions embody the slippery slope of censorship. By labeling his critics as QAnon supporters or purveyors of “misinformation,” he sought to have allies in social media “disappear” critics like Sperry — yet he found that even those allies could not stomach his demands. Given Twitter’s censorship of even satirical sites, it was akin to being turned down by a Kanye West podcast as being too extreme.
But Twitter is only one social media site. Censorship continues at many others, including YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, Google. Jim Lakely at WUWT, YouTube Bans Heartland Institute’s Channel Just Before Live-stream with Climate Scientist Judith Curry, for climate disinformation; ie disagreement with the liberal agenda.
The Peacock sees Elon Musk attorneys try to move trial from California to Texas, citing ‘local negativity’ "In a motion to transfer venue, attorneys argue that Musk has garnered negative publicity in California after taking over Twitter." Seems reasonable, which is why it won't happen.
