VIRGINIA BEACH-- The Pleasure House Point parcel will officially become the "green" home of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.I wonder how they define net zero energy and net zero water.
The foundation recently received their permits from the city of Virginia Beach.
Next summer, digging will begin on the 118 acres set aside to build a new $20 million "living building."
The Brock Environmental Center will serve as the hub and is being designed to meet strict standards insuring a "net zero" impact on the surrounding land, air and water.
CBF director Christy Everett is excited for the new project. "Coming to talk about conservation, learning about conservation, coming to restoration workshops and advocacy workshops- just really kind of becoming the central location for all things conservation to protect our waterways," Everett said.
The "green" building should be ready by the summer of 2014.
Net-Zero Energy and Net-Zero Water facility.
One day you wash up on the beach, wet and naked. Another day you wash back out. In between, the scenery changes constantly.
