It was only 60 F or so, but the sun was out, and the sky was clear, and the wind was not blowing.
A couple of boats going by. The close one is a crab boat fishing near the beach. It's also (barely) visible in the picture above. As the water cools, the crabs will move deeper, and the crabbers will move their pots farther from the shore.
My usual shot down the beach, again showing nearly perfect walking weather.
Our region of the bay is experiencing an algae bloom right now, probably caused, or at least assisted by the floods of Irene and Lee, and the nutrients they brought in. You can see the discoloration of the water; where it's deep it looks brownish red, hence the name "mahogany tide", which is sometimes used, but when it's shallow, you can see the greenish cast from all the chlorophyll.
An unusual perch for what's proabably the same old heron. They seem to pick a spot of beach and come back week after week.
The weed de jour, a clump of wild Asters of some sort. I couldn't really capture the light lavender color I saw today.
Fall is moving along. You can start to see a few trees getting red and golden.
