The Baltimore Sun (http://bsun.md/Ae6368 ) reports that a harp seal was seen Tuesday and Wednesday sunning itself on the end of a dock in Edgemere. This is not the first siting of a Harp Seal well south of it's regular range. In March last year (coincidence?) I blogged about reports of Harp seals from Maine to North Carolina. Maybe they're just getting to like warmer winters. Maybe soon they'll be laying all over the Florida Beaches like their other fellow Canadians...
An official with the National Aquarium in Baltimore says harp seals do swim south along the East Coast from their home waters. But they are rarely seen in the Chesapeake Bay.
The seal appears to be healthy, and officials plan to monitor the animal.
One day you wash up on the beach, wet and naked. Another day you wash back out. In between, the scenery changes constantly.

What Do They Know That We Don't?
A seal that normally makes its home in the waters of the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans made its way to the Baltimore area this week.
