Pretty nice day at the beach. Almost windless and about 50 F. You can see the clouds building in. It's rained by now, but it held off long enough to get the walk in without getting wet. It's hard to see in the photos, but the trees are just starting to green up along the cliffs.

Georgia scans for fossils at the water's edge while Skye romps in the surf. It was a pretty good day for sharks teeth, 26 in all, but nothing remarkable.
The fossil du jour was this segment of sting ray barb. Note the serrations on the edges. They come in all sizes, from pencil lead to an inch wide. I've never found one completely intact, but I have at least found separate points and attachment ends. The lower end of this one is the attachment end. As a scientist, I should probably say something like "proximate" and "distal" ends, but I hope you know what I mean.
We spotted the first whistle pig today. He saw us coming and climbed out of the kudzu into his den, and then watched us as we passed. Somehow, Skye managed to be oblivious, which is a good thing, because I neither had to talk her out of the kudzu or dispose of the body.
