Some Saturday Politics

A reprise of yesterday's theme, at Da Blaze, a Report that Democratic Party brand 'so toxic' in rural US that liberals are removing yard signs and bumper stickers: 'We're on the run.' John Sexton at Haut Hair catches  This response to a story about Democrats' toxic brand is why Democrats' brand is so toxic. It's a pretty good fisking. Keeping this attitude is why they're well on their way to getting creamed in November. Voadka Pundit at PJ VIP, a Dem Activist claims Obama DOOMED Democrats With Working-Class Voters. But, according to Capt. Ed (also at Haut Hair), Klain to Senate Dems: Don't worry -- Biden's SOTU will turn this midterm disaster around "the idea that a State of the Union speech offers opportunities for political resets largely exists as a fantasy of White Houses and editorial offices in media outlets." Matt Vespa at Town Hall calls it Overreach: Democrats' Internal Polling on COVID Is Beyond Brutal. Ace, Leaked Internal Democrat Polling: 57% of Voters in Competitive Districts Agree That Democrats "Went Much Too Far" In Their Pandemic Lockdowns, "Behold, the "changing of The Science (TM):"" Rick Moran at PJ Media, 'Squad Politics' Has Backfired Spectacularly on Democrats. Keep 'em front and center, please. Politico, What AOC Learned From Trump. Hint; it wasn't humility, or economics. And don't forget, as Yahoo! points out You’re already paying more for groceries and gas. Here’s where consumers will feel the next round of ‘sticker shock.’ “Packaged food and household products companies have yet to pass through all of their price hikes, and so consumers will likely face more sticker shock before prices stabilize,”

Matt Margolis at PJ Media, Even Some Democrats Want Biden to Take a Cognitive Test. He's going down hill fast. It doesn't really matter; at this point he's just Ron Klain's front man.

Jane Timken
Breitbart, has a Poll: Democrat Incumbent Tom Malinowski Virtually Tied with Republican Challenger. New Jersey? AllahPundit at Haut Hair catches Ohio GOP Senate candidate bragging My male competitors are overcompensating for their tiny weiners "The word she uses is “inadequacies” but c’mon. We’re all adults here." How does she know? Fox,  Republican Rep. Jim Hagedorn dead at 59, "Hagedorn announced a reoccurrence of kidney cancer last July and had tested positive for COVID-19 last month." Didn't everybody test positive for WuFlu last month? But is it a safe seat? CNN's Chris Cilliza claims Donald Trump may be single-handedly costing Republicans a Senate seat in Arizona. Why would a Republican take advice from CNN?

At the NYT (cited at Haut Hair), Sue Collins says Our democracy shouldn't rest on a rickety law. In defense of efforts to reform the counting of electoral votes. But be careful of "other stuff" the Democrats will try to stick in. Politico finds it unlikely, A bipartisan deal to stop Trumpian election subversion? Not so fast.

A GOP aide familiar with the talks said that “Democrats keep trying to push the envelope and talk about challenging state election laws in federal courts” by establishing a new formal pathway to bring those suits. The aide said that dynamic could prevent the bill from getting the 60 votes it needs to advance.

Wapoo whines  GOP lawmakers are pushing high-tech ‘fraud-proof’ ballots. A Texas company could be the only supplier. It is only Arizona, of course, but if they worry about a sole supplier, companies can always retool to provide the needed product. I wonder why WaPoo is so opposed to anti-fraud measures? /sarc.

But he's not biased, HuffPo, 'He's Just A Bad Guy': Judge Slams Claim That Trump Is Unfairly Singled Out In AG Probe

WaPoo happily reports Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes ordered to be jailed until trial on seditious conspiracy. If he'd only shot at a Jewish candidate. "Mehta said he was not concerned with his First and Second Amendment rights to free speech and to purchase and transport firearms. . ." WaPoo also happy when U.S. judge (Mehta)  rejects Trump claim of ‘absolute immunity’ from Jan. 6 lawsuits, "Court finds former president encouraged and plausibly incited Jan. 6 violence as alleged in suits by House Democrats and Capitol Police officers, but drops Donald Trump Jr., Rudy Giuliani and Rep. Mo Brooks." An Obama judge, therefore can be plausibly called a Hawaiian judge.

Politico whines as Trump moves to close off Liz Cheney’s political escape hatch, "The former president has been privately pressing Wyoming’s governor to change state election laws to deny the congresswoman Democratic support." If the Democrats want her, they can have her if she just will admit to being a Democrat. AllahPundit worries Does Liz Cheney stand a chance at reelection? At Twitchy, Meghan McCain gets a reminder on Liz Cheney and primary challengers. Foolish consistency has never been much of a problem in politics.

PM catches Newspaper suggests 'extremist Republicans' to blame for BLM activist charged with attempted murder of Jewish mayoral candidate, "The Las Vegas Sun said that "the shooting comes amid a rise in threats against politicians fueled by increasingly violent rhetoric coming from extremist Republicans."" If you don't read the papers, you're uniformed. If you do read the papers, you're misinformed. But, surprisingly, the NYPo reports, Amazon suspends Black Lives Matter from its charity platform. It's pretty clearly a scam.

“States have rules for nonprofits, and organizations participating in AmazonSmile need to meet those rules,” the spokesperson said. “Unfortunately this organization fell out of compliance with the rules in several states, so we’ve had to temporarily suspend them from the program until they come into compliance.”

Yahoo!  White House Isn’t Rushing to Copy Dem Guvs’ New ‘COVID-Normal’, in fact, as Sundance at CTH points out With Possibility of Protests Looming, Joe Biden Extends U.S. COVID-19 National Security Declaration to Retain Additional Power. What politician would deny himself the use of "emergency" powers? Well, Cameron Arcand at PJ VIP,  Thank You for Not Being a Squish, Glenn Youngkin "Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-Va.) signed into law a bill making mask mandates for children in public schools illegal. It gives local school districts until March 1 to cooperate." New Mexico ending its mask mandate, effective immediately. KT at Haut Hair sees No vax needed for performers, presenters at Oscars, different standard for nominees and guests. You can't force the beautiful people into masks. Spencer Brown at Town Hall, Emails Shine New Light on CDC-Facebook COVID Collusion. At Da Signal, YouTube Censors Mom Fighting School Mask Mandates. The Insider says It's no longer about the virus — remote workers simply don't want to return to the office. Companies should be able to cute their salaries, since commuting, clothes etc. will not longer be required.

Showing the liberal ratchet in action, Nichole Hemmer at CNN whines San Francisco school board recall sends a dangerous message. Thou shalt not rescind "progress" made by liberals. Sophie Mann at JTN, Republicans on House Judiciary alarmed over new DOJ domestic terror office, targeting school parents, "A group of Republican lawmakers are concerned about potential overreach from a new DOJ office."

Linked at Pirate's Cove in the weekly Sorta Blogless Sunday Pinup and links. The Wombat has a double stuffed Rule 5 Double Scoop Sunday: W*ng D*ng Sw**t P**nt*ng running at The Other McCain.
