Eastern Shore Burning

Chesapeake Bay Mag, VIDEO: Prescribed Burns Consume 1,700 Acres of Marsh (But it’s a Good Thing) 

We've been seeing the smoke form the fires a lot recently. I know it makes the marsh look greener, but since the peat that forms from the old grass helps the marsh keep up with sea level rise, it seems counterproductive to me.
