Saturday Morning in the Issue Mines

A fairly tame Saturday morning. Rasmussen, Daily Presidential Tracking Poll Ooof!

. . .  for Friday shows that 42% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Biden’s job performance. Fifty-six percent (56%) disapprove. . . The latest figures include 21% who Strongly Approve of the job Biden is doing and 46% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -25.

Which may explain why Brandon Campaigned for a Dem in Trouble and It Didn't Go Very Well (Larry O'Connor, Town Hall). Across da Pond the Guardian notes, US inflation hits highest level in 40 years in January as prices rise 7.5% from 2021"When America Sneezes, the World Catches Cold."  WaT notes a Survey: 66% of small business owners say Biden is accelerating inflation. So why do 33% disagree? Who knows; ignorance, allegiance to the party? Similarly at da Fed, from the Wombat's In The Mailbox: 02.11.22, Jordan Boyd asks Why Do 15% Of Voters Still Believe The Corrupt Corporate Media Tells The Truth?. Because they haven't been paying attention.

Via the Wombat's In The Mailbox: 02.11.22, JB Shurk at Am Think thinks that If DC Fears Trump, He Deserves Four More Years. Yep. Da Beast is puzzled, Republicans Admit: MTG’s Blessing Is the Next Best Thing to Trump’s in 2022. Henry Rogers at Da Caller claims an EXCLUSIVE: House Oversight Republicans, Kevin McCarthy Plan November Surprise For DC Mayor Bowser. Time to reconsider home rule?

While Politico touts How Trump Flushed the Presidential Honor System Down the Toilet, Hillary flouts her own document (and documented) indiscretions, Hillary: May I interest you in a "But Her Emails" baseball cap? Even Democrat apologist AllahPundit of Haut Hair thinks her timing is a little off.

The Floridian is flummoxed that DeSantis Doesn’t Budge on Redistricting.

From JTN, Gaetz predicts Jan. 6 select committee will try 'disqualifying' Trump from running again, "We see a Democratic Party that wants to use administrative and judicial power to confront political speech," From Mediaite, James Carville throws cold water in the general direction of the J6 committee, Dismisses Jan. 6 Committee’s Influence on Midterms: ‘People Want an Election About Their Lives’, also, Trump Reportedly Asked About Rescinding Scooter Libby’s Pardon for Planning to Attend Liz Cheney Fundraiser. I don't think it works that way, but it is a little ungracious of Scooter.

From the Wombat's In The Mailbox: 02.11.22, The Geller Reports Judge Blocks Schools From Enforcing Gov. Pritzker’s Mask & Vaccine Mandates, also, Watch Gov. DeSantis Destroy Democrats On MasksKarol Markowicz@karol "Doesn't need to be said but let's keep saying it anyway: DeSantis was right, this administration was wrong and continues to be wrong. The governor protecting children by standing in the way of hysterical covidians is one of the highlights of his tenure." AllahPundit hosts the Feelgood video of the day: Las Vegas kids celebrate lifting of school mask mandate "Sisolak’s up for reelection in less than nine months in a state Biden won by less than three points. Not that that had anything to do with his calculations about mandates, of course." Ace, The Same Media That Attacked Virginia For Lifting Mask Mandates Just Two Weeks Ago Now Celebrates Blue States Lifting Mask Mandates -- But Claims This Is All About The Science (TM), Not Politics, "Even Politico sees through this." David Leonhardt at NYT (cited at Haut Hair), tries to explain Why "follow the science" fails to answer many questions. Capt. Ed at Haut Hair responds to NYT: Do you *really* "follow the science" -- or do reasonable risk balancing?

That’s certainly how the phrase has been invoked — as a religious doctrine. Unfortunately, even in that sense, people who use it have been mighty particular about which Science they follow. Policymakers have not been terribly interested in the Science that has shown that classrooms are not a vector for COVID-19 community transmission, for instance. Nor have they demonstrated adherence to the Science of exposure-related acquired immunity, not to mention the Science that vaccinations do not protect against transmission.

Mostly, though, they have consistently ignored the Science of harm that shutdowns and mask mandates do, especially to children and their development.

At WaEx, California initiative would mandate COVID-19 vaccines for all workers "The California Legislature will debate mandating workplaces of all sizes to require employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19, making it a much stricter iteration of the Biden administration’s mandate struck down by the Supreme Court." Oh hell, they might as well go ahead and shut down the state.

James Lindsay, so emotional and sensitive@ConceptualJames "Virginia education official Maria Burgos admits they are using a Marxist framework in schools to indoctrinate children psychologically and socially. "Inclusion" entails Marxism. If you see that word, be alarmed and dig deeper." From Da Wire, Three-Star General: Teaching Critical Race Theory Leads To Military Failure. I can't imagine Putin and Xi aren't pleased with our military's focus on non-military aims. Don Surber (via the Wombat, of course), Creeping socialism finally creeped people out. It's no longer creeping, it's trotting.

At WaEx, Toxic Virginia Democrats are protecting the enablers of the Loudoun County school rapist

On the Loudoun County school board, they covered up a sexual assault in a school bathroom, transferred the "gender-fluid" rapist to another school (where he later committed another sexual assault), and lied about it in a public hearing. They inappropriately sought and obtained protection from the local left-wing state's attorney, who is supposed to represent Virginia, not school board members who flout the law requiring that such assaults be publicly disclosed.

Now, Democrats really, really, really don't want a state-level investigation. Unfortunately for them, they lost the election in November, and there's a new attorney general in town.

Democrats shocked, shocked to learn Republicans have political aspirations too.

At Da Blaze, President Biden claims he is not seeking to 'make an ideological choice' in picking a Supreme Court nominee. I throw the bullshit flag. Even AllahPundit acknowledges a Backfire: Just 36% say Biden's pledge to nominate a black woman to the Supreme Court was a good idea
