Beach Report 8/9/24 - We Survived Hurricane Debby

The remnants of Hurricane Debby passed by last night. She was not much of a rain maker, but we had 30 knot sustained winds most of the night, so basically a tropical depression. The highest tide occurred early this morning, at about 2 1/2 feet over the highest astronomical tide. This afternoon, we still have cloudy skies, and strong wind
Some erosion of sand behind the north jetty at Flag Harbor. This will fill in slowly, but the real damage is that the sand washed into the channel, making it shallower. He was fishing, but he wasn't really fishing in that.
You can see the wrack line from the last high tide, at the base of the sand dunes. The next high tide, around, 7:30 tonight, will be almost as high if not a few inches higher.
You can see  the waves eroding the base of the dunes here. The beach was extremely sandy, but I found some gravelly spots in places, and managed to eke out 7 shark's teeth, none picture worthy.
