The Counting of the Year Jar

We had a shockingly good year for fossils on the beach. According to the sum of our monthly counts (with the top shelf thrown in) we managed 5239 teeth, not to mention a few that we gave to kids along they. The teeth alone weighed 1.78 kg, for an average weight of 0.34 g, Weirdly, despite the Megalodon, this year we got more teeth, and less total weight than last year. Evidently, we are getting better at seeing small teeth.  We also have piles of whale bones (Georgia is assembling one out of spare parts in the basement), dolphin ear bones, shark vertebra, drum teeth, sting ray barb and other oddities.
